My understanding is teaching English in Japan basically pays jack even by Japanese standards and especially by US standards. Which is why the industry constantly churns through college students and young people who just want to live in Japan for a bit. The only way to make a livable salary is to basically run the business yourself and get clients, which an autistic sperg is never gonna be able to do.
The fact is salaries for English teachers haven't changed since the 90's. Back then 250,000 yen a month was decent. It's still the same salary today or less.

HOW?

How do you not understand the difference between these? One assigns a value and the other is a Boolean operator. I knew the man was a retard but... this is just beyond retarded.

On the game's itch.io page it has an Unreal Engine tag, but I couldn't find any other mention on the page.
In that case, he could've used Unreal Engine because Blueprints are a lot easier to fuck around with and slap something together with minimal effort. Unreal Engine also comes with a pretty fully-featured character controller straight out of the box, and a lot of high quality assets freely available.

The fake enthusiasm and the awful voice acting for EVERY FUCKING NPC.

If I recall correctly, Chibi's one programming class was in C#, so I wonder why they went with Unreal Engine (C++) instead of Unity (C#)?
I am fully convinced that Full Sail and any other “trade school” like it are total scams. ITT Tech was discovered to be a huge scam some years ago, and I have no idea how Full Sail, etc. haven’t come under any scrutiny. If you’re paying tens of thousands of dollars to any institution, you better have more than whatever the fuck Chibi designed to show for it.

Tangentially related, I’ve been seeing these ads for some “Boot (dot) Dev” service which is supposed to gamify the process of learning Python. This is fine, but they also have a little animation about how much money you could potentially be making after finishing their little gay, proctored courses. Totally misleading. Wouldn’t be surprised if Chibi signed up for a service like that. If you’re not actively applying the knowledge you learn, you begin to forget it.

I’ll give him some credit though, you don’t see him flaunting these nonexistent skills too openly, and development clearly isn’t his focus for employment opportunities. Thank God.

I have interviewed so many Chibi’s since I was put into a management position back in 2019. Absolutely clueless and without skill, but they have a piece of paper that says they completed a course. Most talent acquisition and HR personnel still see a college degree as the end all be all for technical roles, but that paradigm is beginning to change. People like Adam will still get hired places due to poor vetting processes, but some development positions are requiring their applicants to share their GitHub repositories, if they have one. Not sure how I feel about this, truthfully, especially with all of the LLM generated slop that has made its way everywhere.

Out of honesty, I don’t even advertise that I earned my OSCP on resumes anymore since it has been several years since I’ve utilized any of that knowledge. Anyone and their mom can get a CISSP which I view as worthless (and gay as fuck to maintain). It should be all about experience. Adam has customer service experience. Maybe his next job will be something that bridges the gap between sales and needing rudimentary knowledge of the Japanese language? Don’t really know, but he’s fat and sucks at life so it’s going to be funny.

I don't think Chibi realizes how oversaturated the Japanese ESL market is. So many weebs wanna move to Japan and get a Japanese wife that I wouldn't attempt to live in Japan on an ESL budget. If he isn't totally financially retarded, Adam will be able to save maybe $150/month. That's if he primarily cooks at home, rarely goes out, and doesn't buy dumb shit.

Imagine being a serious student and this fucker walks into your classroom. Would you take him seriously? Would you be motivated to learn English from him, while he's attempting to work Japanese slang into his lessons?

Adam could get hired and work a job, purely because he has a degree, but it's definitely not an ESL job 95% of expat English teachers in Japan would even consider.

This is unbelievable. I'm not calling you a liar, I just cannot believe Chibi was able to complete a course (even a scam one) without understanding something so foundational to coding. I wish we had access to a Github or some other code repository so we could see what sort of shit he was writing.

I'd expect to see a lot of if:else chains going 20 layers deep; the kind of shit even Yandere Dev would cringe at.

America is a magical place where you can get college scholarship without being able to read and most programmers applying for a job couldn't fizzbuzz their way out of a job interview. Chibi paid for a degree and that's it, all he had to do was show up for courses and have a pulse.
