Sometimes it is—but that would be off-label use. The only reason I can think of is that Rekieta may have told his medical provider he needs to stay awake late at night for his “work.” Because of that, it might have been difficult to establish a consistent dosing schedule, so they prescribed it on an as-needed basis.
It's really not, though - off-label means an rx for a condition for which the drug is not approved, but
Adderall IR is approved to treat ADHD and narcolepsy. Adderall XR is approved to treat ADHD.

And adderall doesn't have a ramp-up period or required sustained/ consistent use. A person with ADD may not need it everyday, rather only for specific days (e.g., at work or school, but doesn't care to have it on weekends). No reason for a prescriber to say "you must take it everyday" - and in fact, it's sometimes encouraged to take breaks or take less when you can manage, in order to avoid tolerance or dependency. Some sources actually say that stimulants should generally be taken "as needed."

But regardless of the "as needed," if it's 10 mg "as needed," there will only be 30 x 10 mg for the 30 days. So the "as needed" is just the outside amount. If dummy takes 20 mg/day, he will wind up 15 long days days without.

10 mg is a pretty low amount - even with kids and teens they'll start at like 5 but not blink to raise it to 7.5, 10, 15, 20 if the 5 does nothing useful and is tolerated well. Tbh if whatever he claims to have is managed by 10 mg or less/ day, it's probably not that bad.

Still, I’ve never heard of Adderall being prescribed as needed for narcolepsy.
Well, Nick doesn't have narcolepsy, so there you go! I expect he complains of having it, or having ADD, or anything except substance dependency.

But yes, like with rx for adhd, if it's not needed, it's not needed, and the cap is the cap.

...Btw, FDA recommends (generally) against adderall for drug abusers...but that paper posted above is maybe interesting.

Also to refine/ add to something I said before: 5-40 mg/ day are the usual guidelines for adhd. 40-60 mg for pretty severe adhd (and 5-60 mg for narcolepsy is guideline). However, as I mentioned, (legit) docs can prescribe (and ins cos usually will cover, if documented correctly) more than 60 for adhd, but at that point docs usually would rather look at other options.

Also
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a potential side effect for men taking Adderall. Some men report a decreased interest in sex and difficulty getting and keeping an erection.
:story:

PSA for people who actually have narcolepsy (not Nick):

Lifestyle and home remedies

Lifestyle changes are important in managing the symptoms of narcolepsy. You may benefit if you:
  • Stick to a schedule. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day, including weekends.
  • Take naps. Schedule short naps at regular intervals during the day. Naps of 20 minutes during the day may be refreshing. They also may reduce sleepiness for 1 to 3 hours. Some people may need longer naps.
  • Avoid nicotine and alcohol. Using these substances, especially at night, can worsen your symptoms.
  • Get regular exercise. Plan for moderate, regular exercise at least 4 to 5 hours before bedtime. It may help you sleep better at night and feel more awake during the day.
Welp.

And if he survives probation, he will probable eventually graduate to meth. And maybe he ends up there if he doesn't survive probation too.
He won't be able to go back to cocaine, that is for sure. He won't be able to afford it. Luckily for him meth is cheap and lasts much longer, fit for someone on a Ralphamale budget.

Surely Nick's parole officer is going to be vigilant knowing Nick is so "smart" as he declared at sentencing. I figured Nick would resort to muh "prescribed" drugs to continue getting high, that was a no brainer.
But the funniest twist in all this would be him pissing off Pedomelt by torpedoing Supertips. I'm actually shocked Youtube has allowed it in the first place. It directly cuts into their profits, and has to be some kind of violation which could get The Onion channel shitcanned. Also Kayla appears to be slowly thickening for BBC fun when Nick goes to prison.

If I'm being honest, medical marijuana might be the least bad thing he could be prescribed. It might chill him the fuck out. Nick clearly doesn't do good on stimulants.

He's already a lazy bum, so that's not a gigantic issue.

Nick claimed that he hates weed. He did so in the LOCALS hot tub stream era. That may have been yet another lie he repeated over and over, or he might be pretending to be cool for Melton...

I do not know which possibility is worse.

He just did this one and i watched his viewer count drop by 30.

This is projection from Nick it is his career that has failed not Kurt, i look forward to when he gets more donos than Nick. Hi Nick if you are reading this you gave your 9 year old daughter cocaine and starved your kids till they are mentally and physically stunted. You deserve to be fried in the electric chair. Do the world a favour and KILL YOURSELF NOW.

It is sometimes. The intent is to deal with daytime sleepiness. But its a different type than what is used for ADHD.
IR is prescribed for ADHD. It's just that XR is not prescribed for narcolepsy.

Its "immediate release" which both kicks in faster and wears off faster. It an approved treatment.

But personally I don't believe Nick has narcolepsy. In the past he has described how he used Provigil and it was definitely not in a medically sanctioned way. He seemed to take it when he was going to sleep and combining it with alcohol.
No narcolepsy. He used modafinil (and prob adderall...and coke) to combat sleepiness from drinking/ hangovers/ staying up all night high on stims.

So you take the stim (Addy) or quasi-stim (modaf) before bed so you sleep lighter and can get up early [and drive your children to whatever non-existent event/lesson requires early-ish morning driving. At best, driving eldest kid to school during the week, or the rare long distance debate meet on the weekend.] Then either crash or take the next day's stim to make it through the day. And then you cancel your job obligations at night while you do it all again, apparently.

Little known fact (maybe or maybe not): stimulants clear out a lot of hangovers and general post-banger slugginess.

And if he survives probation, he will probable eventually graduate to meth. And maybe he ends up there if he doesn't survive probation too.
I actually think he could stay in the "functional dependency" area for quite awhile. 10 mg adderall isn't much, and it will take a while for him to exceed attainable doses.

That may have been yet another lie he repeated over and over, or he might be pretending to be cool for Melton...

I do not know which possibility is worse.
He discovered drugs at 40 and it became his personality. Now drugs and anyone who does them are soooooo cool. There are no real downsides brother, it's just the man trying to keep you from having a good time.

He became a 14-year-old. Maybe he's trying to be better friends with Vito.

Unless they closed this loophole, what his Dr.ug Dealer can do to get around regulations on refills is write different prescriptions for different dosages or types (XR and IR) in a way that the prescriptions overlap but no one type is being filled early. I've seen that done with Adderall and Focalin years ago. But that was also back when they would hand out opiates like candy, so I think and hope the regulations and oversight would be much stricter nowadays. If his shithouse charlatan Dr.ug Dealer does prescribe or overprescribe drugs for recreational use, I hope Nick is the retard that gets him caught by getting wired and saying something stupid on stream.

He said that he took it before going to sleep late at night such that it would take effect a few hours later, waking him up. This seems to me to be the exact opposite of the intent for which it was prescribed.

The drug is going to kick in after a very small number of hours. Taking it in the way he describes here would be along the lines of trying to almost eliminate sleep entirely. Taking it at bed-time when his body is (by his own statement) exhausted and he can barely stay awake so that he can be fully awake maybe 2, 3 or (generously) 4 hours later is totally crazy. Whatever he is fighting with a treatment like that isn't Narcolepsy. Rather it almost seems like drug-induced sleep deprivation.

Probably not much. But you could get an injunction forcing him to knock it off.
If I were somebody affected by this, what I would do is first try to go through YouTube to see what they might do about it. It seems the most cost-effective option.

It's up to the people like Kurt, Nate, Sean, etc. though, of course.

Normally I'm not a big fan of anyone fucking with somebody's business, but given what that business is doing, and the two faggots involved, I wouldn't exactly cry if Melton lost Supertips, or even if Nick got yeeted off YouTube.

Despite our falling out years ago, I was actually sympathetic to Nick here when he got yeeted over the Keffals shit. Now? Fuck 'em. He deserves pretty much every bad thing that happens to him.

EDIT: Clarification.

Nick showed his prescription Adderall bottle, which prompted a chatter to say:
Wyświetl załącznik 7295199
...To which Nick replied that he hasn't been diagnosed ADHD, but he's pretty sure he has it.
Ah, so he went to one of those websites where you pay a nurse practitioner $50 a month to get an adderall prescription without doing any of tbh r actual leg work to determine if you need it.

Couple of things

1. Kaylas obviously not doing coke anymore so her bodily functions and receptors have gone back to normal. Plus if she is terminally lazy and lies in bed most of the day watching TV she'd gain weight naturally. And then keep gaining

And 2. That "doctor" from Quora that Nick was fond of, the guy that got busted for growing shit. Is he possibly Dr. Feelgood? Is it possible that Nick reached out to him after being so impressed with his inaccurate theories about metabolites? And is it further possible that he's still practicing, or hooked Nick up with a shady supplier of all you can eat pills? This may have some credence. And maybe there's black market purchases happening?

Just thinking out loud of course
I'm sure it will all come out in the end

All this talk over the prescription drugs really brings into perspective that moment on stream last week where Nick has to sneak a pill on stream. Quoted:
Nick is popping pills on stream. 1:28:11 takes out unknown pill. ( but doesn't take it) he sets it down and acts nervous for a awhile trying to look casual af. Time passes to 1:34:13 he begins to stare at it rubbing his hands like a addict staring at a fix. 1:34:19 picks up the pill after staring at it. Pops it in his mouth at 1:34:31. Why be sneaky about talking a pill if its ok to take? Why take the pill out and not just take it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-oppNXi2gg. ( clipped section https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlhmSdu7-xY&feature=youtu.be )
I promise you that is Nick upping his own personal dosage of Adderall live on stream. He had probably already taken some earlier, and he "had the drugs under control" at that point, maybe only doing 1 pill a day. That is the moment where he ups it to 2 pills a day. He is bargaining with himself, telling himself that he will only do 2 pills just this once, tomorrow he will only do 1. Or maybe no pills tomorrow, this extra pill is just a treat for doing so well on stream.

That is not a man that is in control of himself. The drugs are controlling him. A little white pill owns his mind, body and soul. The addiction he has is so strong, that he is literally bouncing up and down, staring at the pill and rubbing his hands like Gollum. Soon, Nick will find that prescription drugs just don't hit the same way as unlimited cocaine and ketamine did. The dosages will keep going up, he will find more pills and prescriptions to abuse, and eventually, he will cave and acquire real meth and smoke it, "it will only be once." He will manage to avoid the random drug test the first time, and soon it will become his own personal minigame: can he correctly gamble on when he will be drug tested, and manage to do meth and ket in the times he isn't being tested? The thrill of dodging the stupid retard police will give him a high that is supplemented by the drugs he takes, and each successful time reinforces his belief that he is smarter than any doctor or parole officer. Unfortunately for him, eventually, he will slip up once, and it will be all over. Nick's story has played out innumerable times by drug addicts around the world. They are so much smarter and cleverer than the doctors and police, and they just won't get caught. Until they do get caught, and then of course it won't matter how clever they are since they are in prison.

Basically, I am looking forward to the 3-peat in the Lolcow of the Year Awards.

Told ya he would just get some scripts, and let's be real it was a pretty easy call.
Yet he’s still gloating about how easy it was to get “sober.”

Imagine how degenerate/cowardly Nick is that he can live a life of complete lies and not neck himself.

Agree and, also, I understand that flagging for ToS violations can be viewed as bitchmade, but honestly, Supertips is genuinely problematic.

- The person's face and voice are put on screen
- The Supertip comment could easily be mistaken for the person him/herself

When I first started watching Melton - here and there for the hacking stuff - it was incredibly confusing because sometimes Nick was Supertipping as himself, and other times random Dabbleverse people were commenting in Nick's voice.

When I wasn't staring at my screen (often), I assumed it was him. People can easily get confused about whether the person actually said the comment. Also, the user comments are not always parody or comedy. They're meddlesome.

Regardless, YT (and Rumble, for that matter) has every incentive to ban the system, although they tolerate creators promoting Venmo and the like.
