I was a GTA so I saw that first-hand. When I say "decadence" I'm referring mainly to choosing easier non-STEM BS degrees just to get a college degree, but the truth is that most people shouldn't go to college. A lot of people who attend college would be happier, more useful, and probably better paid if they went into the trades, but it's an industry now.
