exactly, i had to listen to younger boomers earlier today and its crazy how far countertactics wise the right has become, Will types have existed for over a century, its why they can say 6 million jews died in the holocaust.
100% shot the guy is either his friend or a former lover. thats literally how it all works in media especially for very small town local stuff. One of the people i went to high school with ran and won a state election and all their media attention/fawning articles were from friends and they won easily because it was a safe blue seat and the only dem in the primary was a boomer trying to run with their campaign like a facebook account. especially in state races the amount of votes you need is so small and the amount you need to spend is so little its one of the few parts of society where putting in effort will get you that W. the pay isn't worth it and you really have to care to want to do it in the first place.
you're forgetting a key ingredient, being in a tier 2 or under city. meaning unlike say a jewish person from SoCal they've actually been forced to be around conservatives and racists growing up at some point, which is why they are more devoted to stopping them. "nazis" aren't some ancient fictious term its a cousin or a former neighbor or a big chunk of their high school class. the problem is they couldn't knock it in NYC/LA and had to move to their next best option which is why they're in these much cheaper to live in "up and coming" cities instead of the trendy places of the country.
as much as people mock the "anti-bullying" initiatives there's a reason all these annoying lolcows mostly seem to have gone through school before those took off. When Will thinks about "Nazis" he probably imagines the same bullies from middle school but grown up. by all accounts its these guys born in the 1980s that are a huge chunk of the "kill everyone to the right of me" contingent. turns out being shoved into lockers in his early life just caused him to love authority and that hurting others can lead to results. it really needs to be more talked about that despite the years flying by its still these guys that are spreading most of the toxicity on the left.
