Liberals tend to do this when they can either Jack each other off about their intellectual superiority or if it’s a forum where they don’t have consensus already, as a way to delay and move the goalposts. “Ackshually black crime is uh lower by a few hundred depending on the count”-they force you to argue over the minutia with them, rather than the substance. They are banking that you will either be (marginally) less informed on the minutia, or you will be distracted by their condescension and not press home your actual point.

If you don’t take their bait they tend to start stuttering and lobbing “racist” at you.

Interesting bit here-I'm seeing a few liberals embrace this sort of...I guess you could call it illiberal liberalism? There's a sense that the open society is tottering, and the intolerant are about to overwhelm the status quo, and Stancil being an absolutely committed liberal wants elites to actually censor and repress these ideas. He's not arguing they're a product of capitalism in decay or something something Adorno and authoritarianism or sexual jealousy or if you just had more expansive programs and community-just "there are millions of people who if TND were on a platform, would vote for it straight up, you have to repress these people if you want democracy, giving them space and room to work in works against you, so act now"

Its an interesting insight into modern liberals, I think this line of argument will become increasingly common as the west's demographics shift and race returns to the center of all politics. The only way for the post 45 order to sustain itself is to basically implement Stancilism when it comes to suppressing the right. They're conceding its not a matter of false consciousness or giving people stuff-psychologically or materially, just that large swathes of the population would listen to Hitler if he spoke-in which case no argument is ever going to be effective, only violence, in this way I wonder if Stancil is a model for what truly committed libtards will look like ten or twenty years from now.

Anyway-as for the debate, Stancil is acting like the Stalinist commissar circa 1942 pointing his pistol at demoralized red army recruits and shouting "no steps backward!" Or at least he's trying too.

The democrats will probably be whipped into line anyway, but its always amusing seeing Stancil defend Biden-sama to the very end.
 
Most of the Stencil-like liberals have effectively replaces the sort of devotion meant for family and religion with politics. It makes sense they are doubling and tripling down on this shit, they sold their souls for it and desperately want the Utopia promised to them. The comparison with the NKVD commissars is pretty apt as ideologically it is a similar trap, the have made it their life already and if they lose all is lost.

They locked into a path already, and have ignored a dozen opportunities to take a return path or deviate and now too many are too far gone to return. They are stuck with a ideology that insists the world is still stuck in 2008 and that society hasn't changed either in demographics or economics.
 
It’s notable Stancil is dropping the policy wonk “focus on economics” sort of spiel. This notion liberals should be disinterested technocrats and that improving living standards should resolve the race problem. He understands the gravity of the challenge to globohomo, and he’s trying to rally the troops as it were.

Most liberals still assume Hitler to use the ur example is a no go, but Stancil realizes I think more than most of his peers that if you had trump voters sit down and watch Hitler speeches, they’d draw some very unpleasant conclusions.*

Once he as a liberal understands this-there is no longer an interest in even perfunctory dialogue or amelioration of supposed distress. Just anxiety and urgency.

* Which is why he’s trying to get liberals to care about fending off the right. Because he correctly understands it’s a contest of values over the future and what sort of society should prevail.

The fact he is unsuccessful at this should tell you a lot.
