To speculate a bit more on "The Worst Day EverTM" that Nicky went through I will summarize the general thoughts people had back when it happened, a year late and now and contrast to how Nicky is acting now.
Back when we heard of his big bad no good day there wasn't a clear consensus. The most common thought was him losing daddies money followed by cucking/cheating with other family problems trailing last.
After a year of degeneracy the thought of it being infidelity increased, with the idea that it was more emotional rather than physical and family problems now being even less popular.
Today we are still trending towards infidelity and further away from losing his trust fund.
Back when we made those assumptions initially the percentage of the thread that perceived Nicky as a degenerate was lower and as was the perceived degree of degeneracy. As time past more and more of the thread thinks of Nicky as scum of the earth of the lowest caliber.

Knowing what we know now I will try and debunk the three theories and posit new ones.
The money issue: Nicky was at his peak or shortly after when the event took place. Nicky is also a spoiled kid with no concept of money or hard work. Even if he did get cut off he would likely believe that the millions of supper chats will keep rolling in. And it's also likely he never understood the value of the trust fund to begin with or at that point.
The infidelity: Taking the stories of admittedly unreliable narrators(CRP, Ralph, Waski, Aaron) as well as Kayla's own zonked out admissions and collaging them we can presume that Kayla was never that monogamous and Nicky clearly get's his rocks of at the thought of getting cucked.
Family issues: I don't know what kind of man doesn't feed, clothe or bathe his children, drugs them and then feels bad when some other family member is in trouble or distancing themselves from him. Plus Nicky's extended family is not some conservative Christian fanatics and clearly have some liberal tendencies as such could probably ignore some drug use and infidelity.

So what could truly ruin the day of a drug abusing narcissist like Nicky?
Health problems: Some long term guaranteed mortality issue like some form of cancer. Now Nicky might be the kind of person to milk it but he could also have some deluded pride if the disease is less glamorous and as such keep it hidden.
Divorce scare: Nicky clearly doesn't care about Kayla, but he does care about controlling her. Her putting her foot down and issuing an ultimatum could have shown how tenuous a hold he had over Kayla, making him double down quickly on the degeneracy to get a grip over her using drugs and infidelity.
His children are not his: Maybe one, maybe all, maybe all but his favorite kid. Maybe that's why he neglected them.
Getting outed for infidelity in a way his family had to address it: Maybe he tried to open the polycule with a family member and that backfired into a giant scandal.
He fucked up something financially in a big way and was on the hook for it: Could have had a deal with Netflix or Blaze or something and he really fucked it up and is under NDA and somehow his swiss cheese brain held to the contract.

Every single possible explanation for how his child tested positive for cocaine except for the ones indicating foul play, e.g. the sample not being from the child and just from some other person leads to the same conclusion: neglect.

If it's his child and someone gave them cocaine, neglect.
If he did give them the cocaine directly, neglect.
If his child took the cocaine and they knew it, neglect. If they didn't know it, still neglect.
Smoked crack cocaine near the child? Neglect.

Again, if the hair is from someone who isn't Nick's family, that should be something Nick would want to tell everyone, but he's not. Right now he's saying it's impossible to get that result.

Didn't Nick already reveal a CPS trial expert witness to deal with this issue? Someone who could testify that what children would say would be influenced by outside factors including CPS?

Nick is already sunk in the CPS/family court part of the process. The most interesting question is if with that test of that child if the prosecutors bump up the criminal charges related to the children to a felony.
