For reference, I've seen multiple Locals creators offer the annual discount at various points. Viva and Barnes were maybe the first I remember, and they have since raised their monthly and annual rate, although still offered a discount on black Friday.

I would assume the take home is about the same, as paying annually has 11 less chances in a year of either a chargeback or a bounced card for whatever reason. It also makes it harder to back out, paying for a year up front.

While I follow (subscribe? whatever the free level is) to a number Locals creators, the only one that might tempt me to pay (outside of Sean) would be if they set up Null. Get on it, Locals.

I'm always so affronted by censorship that when YouTube banned Rekieta, I immediately signed up to his locals channel to attempt to lend some support -- even though I hadn't been subscribed to his YouTube channel.

I was there about five minutes before I realized that the whole thing was a cash grab aimed at separating moronic pay-pigs from their hard earned dollar. You couldn't sign up without giving them your email account, and my account was immediately flooded with begging letters suggesting I might want to send him money.

And while you could see the comments, you couldn't participate unless you sent in your $5 a month. Now, I might be dumb but I'm not THAT dumb. Within a day or two, I was unsubscribed and these fuckers were blocked/sent to spam. As much as I might care about censorship, I'm not in the business of sending free money to trust fund lawyers to listen to them chatting shit on the internet.

I agree. I think this type of offer is standard for Locals, although the length of free membership may be an indicator of a creator's eagerness to hold on to subs.

I had originally signed up for a monthly RekietaLaw Locals sub after the YouTube ban (I wisely didn't do an annual subscription), and was ready to bail within a month. On canceling, I was immediately offered a free month for any renewal, monthly or annual.

This was a couple weeks before the Discord rebellion, so he was likely already seeing decline due to all the unwanted sex talk, but the real underwear party inspired collapse in viewers hadn't started yet. Messaging was pretty similar to what you're showing, so I don't think it gives any insight.

Also, to tweak the discount amount, Nick would actually have to put some effort into managing his Locals, and that seems... unlikely.
