This reminds me of the drama a couple of years ago about the Steam game Heartbeat. Cutesy JRPG made by and for lesbians. Well, for anyone, but basically the Mogwai (think pokemon that can turn into people) have a yin/yang thing that's a bit like sex (and an affinity for same sex couplings) and so gay humans are the only ones that can be "conjurers" (think pokemon trainers). So there's a lot of lesbian themes because you're only interacting with conjurers. Naturally the trans community flocked to it in droves and started spamming fan art of how various characters were trans.

The gf of one of the devs (who also made fan art) went on twitter to say that transbians are just men who fetishise lesbians and "You can surgically mold your penis into the Eiffel Tower if you want. You're not going to become France." The trans community lost their shit and demanded the game cancelled (despite the fact this woman wasn't even a dev).

It then turned out that the dev herself was in a discord and basically said that sex based discrimination was real, and that girls who were into sports were being told they were actually boys and this was regressive, and that the medical community was unethically experimenting on mentally ill children and adults. The trans community started putting in calls to the Better Business Bureau.

The devs responded by putting the game on sale for 41%.

ETA: I just heard they also do 41% sales every Summer and Winter as well, to this day.

I also remember the Factorio drama as well. I believe the issue was that one of the programmers said something "transphobic" and people demanded that the lead dev fire the guy and rewrite the code. Of course, he refused because the man obviously did his job and did it good. It would be a waste of time and money to rewrite code that is not broken.

Things like this serve as a nice reminder that people do in fact push back. The troon train is loud at the validation station, but normal people still exist and they're getting tired of this plague.
