Chuck Breaking aka Chuck Huber vs Terri Doty

I know it's been talked about in the main thread, but @Shane_Yes_That_One couldn't himself but inject himself here (cameo appearance by @MarzGurl, too):
Resident Shane & A-Kon insider, @Not A Bug, offered his take:
Spend one day off of the internet and look what it gets me.

There have been a couple of guests on the spectrum that presented unique problems but weren't the cause of private security. One in particular comes to mind but details about how he was handled would probably expose me.

So I'll leave it with this, neither he (nor any other misbehaving guest) was ever granted free admission. One was worked with and corrected himself but lost it again and was banned.

The "thousands" in private security was not to address this guy or any other particular problem guest. A personal protection company was hired to transport/escort guests and/or escort cash boxes. This decision was made because of general intelligence [there are some "professionals" planning for these things] indicating problems may occur. This was in 2016. Their presence encouraged bigger guests and for that reason and general safety enhancements, I believe A-Kon continues to hire this company or one like it.

I don't know how A-Kon came up and I'll probably need a TL;DR to catch up but @Shane_Yes_That_One was correct that a private security was hired but it sounds like he has forgotten why or wasn't in on the conversations leading up to it.

Probably best at this point to just address questions since I'll just ramble otherwise.
@okstupid77 claims to have been an A-Kon volunteer in the past and offered their take:
I used to volunteer for A-Kon and I remember hearing about this but only as a rumor from other volunteers. We banned and removed attendees for less, yelling in a guest's face and making them feel unsafe would have ensured you didn't come back. He says they had to hire private security for thousands, who still failed to do their job, just for one convention attendee? Maybe the con security was too busy grooming kids?

Arron Blackwolf Arrest in Dallas County
And @Captain Manning, who has attended a few conventions in the past, offered his:
For my part, there's not much to say. I suppose the funniest "input" would start with something like this:

Shane got tossed from A-Kon staff YEARS ago. Despite his claims to the contrary here, and elsewhere, It wasn't an amicable separation. A-Kon thoroughly embarrassed him with a tweet after his disastrous appearance on Rekieta. On Rekieta, Shane was claiming clout he didn't have. He still claimed affiliation with A-Kon at that time. A-Kon got slammed with inquiries, and this did not please A-Kon. Then @Not A Bug confirmed why he's no longer with A-Kon. It's because he's an alcoholic.

@Not A Bug knows way more about what happens at A-Kon than I do. My only trips to Texas have consisted of changing planes at DFW (it's an American Airlines hub), and most of the stuff I know about A-Kon comes from talking to their staffers in e-mail ages ago when I actually went to and worked at anime cons. Mostly this would be the previous management.

It should go without saying that I do not consider Shane a reliable source on A-Kon, and I gather A-Kon doesn't consider him one either. If he were smart, he'd never bring them up again. His own con is/was a trashfire because he's a stupid incompetent faggot that likely has trouble running that Fisher Price toy stove in his apartment, much less acting as an Operations Director for a very old and storied anime convention (A-Kon is widely believed to be the oldest continuous "pure" anime convention in the United States, and they probably don't deserve any of this).
EDIT: Corrected myself.

And @Captain Manning, who has attended a few A-Kons in the past, offered his:
I've never attended A-Kon. Like I said in the post you quote, my only physical experience with Texas has consisted of changing planes at DFW.

Overall, my anime con experience is:

1. Old and almost certainly of little use in the modern sense (but maybe not in a few cases... see below). Though I still like anime, those days are behind me now.

2. In terms of staffing, it involved mostly California and a little bit of Arizona. I also attended other anime conventions around the country. I have an IRL friend who worked for ACEN in Chicago, and I was able to salvage the Amanda Winn Lee Pen Pen striptease video from him. I'd love to say his name, because he's such a hero from keeping a Quicktime video made in the 90s, but he might not appreciate that.

That's why if you want solid A-Kon stuff, you gotta get it from @Not A Bug, or somebody like that. Basically, a Texan.

I was, many moons ago, part of a mailing list in which a lot of con chairs, department heads, and staffers talked to one another. Meri Davis was part of that, and I picked her brain a couple of times on various subjects. Shane and Bug undoubtedly know who that is. My impression from old e-mail is that she's a woman who has her head on straight, although I am under the impression A-Kon was bought under new management a little more than two years ago. Funny enough, the NEW management seems to not have a very positive opinion of Shane either.

WAY back in March of 2019 (Christ, this has been going on forever), I submitted this post in the main WW thread. Vic was never considered a problem with conventions in the 2000s. I thought it was pertinent because the same Otakon staffer that posted to that mailing list in 2009 (Jim Vowles) was quoted in the Japan Times hit piece against Vic ten years later. Also noteworthy is that if Vic was doing shit at A-Kon, Shane, the intrepid operations director (gay ops director?), was clearly too dumb to notice it because Vic had multiple appearances at A-Kon between 2005 and 2018. Shane has claimed 15 years of experience with A-Kon. Claimed he got a plaque after he "resigned."

Today I see people on Twitter claiming that conventions "just let him get away with stuff for years." They're making it sound like Vic has some Steve Jobs level "Reality Distortion Field." They're making it sound like he was molesting people left and right, and various anime conventions across the country simultaneously agreed to let him get away with it (very unlikely). It strikes me as more plausible that Vic was simply never considered a problem with attendees.

The idiots on Twitter screech about "conspiracy theories," and then offer up this tripe. I think they should be taken to account for it.

My mistake then, I've corrected my previous post.

I see jupitergirl is inserting herself into more drama for clout. " people are harassing me when I have nothing to do with the situation" I feel like she's gearing up for more begging.
I would say "it is what she does best," but she is actually terrible at that. Homeless Panhandlers make more money a DAY than what she makes.

People: Can we get dates on these? Because I think we can extrapolate EXACTLY when she drank the Kool Aid. This is fascinating. We can apply SCIENCE!

Every day that ends in the word day.

Sadly, it actually is what she does best, and she utterly fucking sucks at it. She is a completely talentless human being with no redeeming features, who simped for a pedophile rapist for years and now acts like she can be taken seriously on predator detection. Her sole claim about Vic is she was in an elevator and saw Vic and some woman engaged in a completely consensual affectionate interaction and she was somehow the victim of this.

The latter is more recent (2015-present), but I'm willing to bet the former is circa 2009-2013.
Here is her from 2009 with Caitlin Glass and J. Michael Tatum:

Second runner up in the Nostalgia Chick contest!

Lindsay Ellis (the actual winner) ended up getting a job for PBS when she left TGWTG (your nation's tax money at work!), but MarzGurl sees the "Ass, Grass, or Gas" bumper sticker and prays the vehicle owner will accept the emissions from her anus. Nobody actually wants to bang her, and she can't afford the grass or gasoline.

Oh, she's following the "Linkara school of sexual consent":

Nearly everything that comes from CA/TGWTG is fucking stupid. It's why we have a whole subforum for it. Larry Bundy Jr. is great, and I occasionally like Brad Jones. Otherwise, it's a mark of shame and failure.

I met chuck once,he seemed like a good dude, took the time to interact with everyone seemed to enjoy all his fans. That being said, it's hard to really wanna defend him after he up and abandoned vic & tried playing both sides. He knew what kind of people they were, he shouldve known they wouldn't forgive & forget yet he chose to take the cowards way out.

Nick Rekieta on Huber
While I'm not gonna say Nick is wrong here (indeed, I conceded in the other thread that Chuck is a bit of a weirdo, and I don't know what went on between him and Nick), I kinda wonder whether it's a good idea to rant like that now since we got an appeal pending in a case where Chuck's affidavit/testimony might still be useful. I've always thought Chuck's credibility is pretty "borderline," and this doesn't make that seem any less so.

Nick says he waited two years to let this out. Maybe he should have waited longer.

Just my $0.02.

Also how dare you betray your big titty elves. Or whatever.
This avatar is an in-joke. I'll probably change it soon since the joke has worn thin.

If I do big titty elf, it won't be animated because... no joke... Null took two of those away from me. Claimed the bouncing was too "distracting " when he was trying to read a thread.

Brian, you have no right accusing others for making excuses for other people's behavior, when you've been doing that schtick for the past two and a half years. You've excused Ron beating his ex-wives. You've excused AWL roasting a guy who wasn't there. You've excused Alex Moore's stupid behavior about piracy. You've excused people gaslighting a female Vic Mignogna fan. You've excused the FUNI audio clips. You've excused everything your side has done with that oral vagina of yours. And now a couple of people on Twitter are putting you in your rightful place.

Fuck you, Brian. Fuck you right in the ear.

Margo, if you’re reading this thread, allow me to explain. Chuck Huber’s greatest “sin” is that he prevented an innocent, autistic fan from getting arrested and because of that, made an ugly, miserable FUNI VA “feel bad”. Because that’s why these people, with the social behavior of an ape, are angry at Huber.

If this doesn’t make sense to you, well…I don’t blame you.

Oh, get the fuck out of here with that shit, Soye.

You don't agree with Nick. You're simply happy that somebody who submitted an affidavit in support of Vic was now drunkenly castigated by Nick. Your comment here is transparently self-serving.

Does anybody here believe that if some random KVer made the claim that Nick was encouraging violence, Ron would rush to Nick's defense? Of course he wouldn't.

As for Chuck, I really really REALLY wanna believe that it'll be proven some day that Chris Sabat has a casting couch, and Funimation is duplicitous as all fuck when it comes handling claims of sexual harassment, but I'm sad to say I don't think Chuck is gonna be the one to take us to the promised land.
