For those wandering in here from Zinnia's shrieking: Zinnia is not trans.
No dysphoria diagnosis, no intention to transition, actively spouts transphobic and homophobic drivel, and acts like he was in some way elected to screech over actual transpeople. Has been one of the many champions of demanding he be allowed into Lesbian spaces because he is for realz totes a woman it's a girl penis you guys. He has gone on record declaring that Lesbians who won't fuck him are transphobes and had this legendary response when called out on it:
For those wondering why none of us respect Zinnia's pronouns or Trans Status: There is no way in hell that Zinnia in any way, shape, or form could get through a psychiatric evaluation needed for basic investigation into his gender identity, let alone a Dysphoria diagnosis. Zinnia has declared that said diagnosis is a "mind fallacy" and that those silly doctors with fucking decades of research have it all wrong.
But Zinnia is more than just another Troon in a polluted sea of them; Zinnia is a fucking moron that honestly eclipses some of the Farms' dumbest and funniest. He has defended ISIS several times and tried to make the case that ISIS throwing gays off buildings was "trying to prevent suicides." Yes, he is this stupid. He deleted fucking everything, of course, but worry not: Parties in addition to us recorded it and we'll share it with you.
These, among thousands of other reasons, are why Zinnia got covered here. He is a gigantic, self-aggrandizing failure who turned his life into a magnificent shambles with no help from us whatsoever.

I just posted this on the main thread, but will include the same dox here for convenience.
In short: did Zinnia Jones inadvertently help get Manning locked away for even longer while supposedly being a witness for the defense? Short answer: maybe. Jones certainly didn't help much and exaggerated his importance in the whole affair.
A while back, there was speculation that the testimony of Zachary Antolak / Zinnia Jones / then Lauren McNamara didn't actually help Manning much, and in fact opened the door to recalling a rebuttal witness to contradict the testimony and demolish a defense argument about Manning's motivations.
I only found one document about that:

Snap opinion: this wasn't very helpful at all and if anything, established that Manning was doing what he did out of political ambitions.
ETA: And you'll notice the very first thing the prosecution mentions on cross examination is POLITICS. Because that was not a helpful admission at all.
