The difference is that this hack has managed a decade-long career off of repeating older material.

Today's review subject is A Plague Tale: Innocence.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is an action adventure stealth game. The biggest criticism of the game is its uninspired gameplay. It mixes the typical stealth game segments with action bits, where you kill guards as a teenage girl by throwing rocks at them with a sling, environmental puzzles that involve using light and fire, and an obligatory crafting system. Despite being able to kill fully-armored guards with rocks, the main character will die very quickly from anything. If you fail stealthing you are almost bound to start from a checkpoint, as the map layout is very linear, and while trying to run away from one guard you will run into another. The main characters' snarky and cheery remarks about the bleak events surrounding them are tonally deaf (this might be a slight nitpick, as people tend to do that in real life as well). The plot gets rather unfocused around the second act, with main characters finding a safe place to live and just gathering some other people to live with them as well.

Honestly, it's funny he said how the game borrows a lot from other franchises, since the publishers are known for taking studios who won't make something breath taking but just enough to get everyone's attention. Since when I saw Plague, it reminded me how Focus was behind publishing the Styx games which were more low budget Thief type games. Also holy fuck, I never knew Romero was this fricking short, Yahtzee is practically towering over him! Also, the way Yahtzee described it, the game sounds less like Evil Genius and more like Omerta City of Gangsters, but more polished in terms of gameplay and mechanics.

E3 2019 - Escapist Magazine

Yahtzee's back from E3 and is now giving his opinion on everything he saw. If you've seen his individual videos from E3, then you'll probably know his opinions on most of these.

Basically no info on Project Scarlett, probably until next E3.
Halo Infinite and Gears of War 5 are looking as boring as ever.
Gears of War 5's Escape Mode is basically Left 4 Dead, but with more boring maps.
Lots of games that require Xbox Game Pass are very niche.
Bleeding Edge looks rather like Overwatch, so hopefully they can do something unique with the game.
'Funny, isn't it, how whenever a game talks about being "over the top" or "tongue in cheek", that always seems to mean the same thing these days? That it's going to look like an irresponsibly violent version of JetSet Radio? Probably cel shaded, every character is introduced with a freeze frame profile and dresses like a tank girl cosplayer with color blindness, and a lot of things will be magenta. Oh yeah, and there'll be a panda for some reason.'
No gameplay of Square Enix's The Avengers Project, despite all the hype behind it.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood didn't make a good impression in general, due long cutscenes, bullet-spongy enemies and unnecessary co-op.
Doom: Eternal's hands-on demo, on the other hand, made a very grand impression.
Cyberpunk 2077's and Dying Light 2's hands-off demos aren't too impressive due to being very highly choreographed.
Full 3D look doesn't suit Pokemon too well
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's sequel is a probable bad omen of Nintendo rehashing their property again, although it's way too early to tell.

He used to be unhealthily skinny, so he's stepped up a bit at least.

But yeah, he's not overly comfortable on camera - I remember him talking about it in relation to his personal dislike of unscripted comedy. It's not that he looks down on improv, it's that he's really uncomfortable when having to go off-script. One of the (admittedly several...) reasons his attempt at gaming shows didn't take off.

:Mad On the Internet: aside I have noticed that his writings seem to struggle with flow. Its almost like he's using a speech-to-text dictation machine or something and he has a tendency to get sidetracked. Despite the tangenting, his written works feel very knotted and come to a screeching halt when its clear he doesn't know how he wants the scene to play out. Its unfortunate, he seems to have a good grasp of the ideas but just seems unable to put them on the page/screen.

Well ya know, here's a crazy idea: Don't show your face on camera and then bitch about it. An I'm not talking about his E3 report, the dumb bastard showed his face during his 1st Uncharted video. So, course people would recognize and approach him, an then he bitches about his anxiety and how he doesn't like when people approach him? Bitch please.

Why on earth would you open a bar if you dislike interacting with people/have anxiety?

I don't have a hate boner for the guy like some folks in this thread do, but no fucking wonder that particular venture went tits up.
