This is why PewDiePie, of all people, being anti-censorship (as far as I can tell) is hilarious. He has a massive following on the site and so can pretty much use the platform as a soapbox against itself with that as a decent buffer. It's not like he's going to stop anything happening, but he's a thorn in their side who has managed to somehow take root.
The only problem I have is that they are teaming up with a.d.l. and other associates for this. Those groups had been incredibly behind on current events that they rely mostly on guessing work to claim a picture as a hate sign.
These aren't good judge for extremist content.
I guess this is more of a complaint from my own ignorance, but where are the terrorist videos? I've never seen a single beheading or an Alluh ackbar on my feed, in fact im being recommended content I just don't want to watch. This seems like over stepping in to an issue that really wasn't largely present.
Im just waiting for people to come forth and justify this by saying, "Free speech only protects you from government, not not private corporations" because that is usually a half asses attempt of an counter argument for these reforms.
This is what, the 6th time in 2 years youtube had some minor change that will kill freedom of speech forever?
Do these people know the tale of crying wolf

There'll be 60 videos up of some fat guys, hat backwards, sitting in thier cars complaining and 1000 videos on how to bypass the new youtube filters, and then in 3 months new youtube filters will come out and the cycle will start again.
It's kind of garbage, but Youtube can do whatever they want since it's their website and nobody is forced to upload and be a content creator.
They can always go to Vimeo, because I see links to vimeo videos on here all the time, or they can deal with it and not say racial slurs in a video.
One of H3H3's videos got demonetized because the video was about Pepsi and the thumbnail had him bleeding out of the eyes and mouth drinking pepsi, which makes perfect sense; Pepsi doesn't want its brand associated with bleeding from the eyes and mouth. Just like mountain dew and doritos doesnt want Boogie talking about his mom beating him as a child.
They already cater to pants shitting adults who get easily triggered by anything, not surprisingly really. Maybe there's gonna be a new Tube site that won't cater, would be nice.

A lot of the "rational skeptic" community have been mirroring their videos on Vidme and Dailymotion, but considering that YouTube is running at a loss despite its near monopoly, who knows how long those sites will last.
He has multiple videos spergin out about internet censorship n shit. The only decent one is 'A bigot's dollar' and it's decent because it doesn't affect him at all since he has no ads and goes on with patreon bucks

To be fair to the salt, they did give temporarily kick Jordan Peterson off the site, and he legitimately hasn't even said or done anything resembling 'hate speech'. I mean I get that they've been operating Youtube at a loss for the past ~10 years, and they'd probably like to change that with some more advertiser friendly content, but honestly? the internet will be the worse for it.
The thing is, Youtube is the biggest fish in the pond, so while creators can migrate, they'll ultimately be forced into a niche, and will be stripped of any audience growth. Now I understand Youtube is a private company, and is not beholden to freeloaders like me, but still, this action is harmful to the internet as a whole as it is effectively limiting the free propagation of ideas.
This is just another step towards the balkanization of the web. As if we need more polarization.

That's my biggest problem, the algorithm, it won't know jack shit. I would complaint about the obvious predictable unfair ratio of SJW/Alt-Right restricted videos but 1 SJW screams as much as 10 alt-rights.
