All personal substance use should be legal on the basis of personal responsibility and self-determination freedom, but perhaps it should be illegal to do it in public, or to be visibly under the influence in public.
That's how it works on Spain. While the substances themselves and being under the influence is illegal, you cannot be held criminally liable for what you do under your own roof unless there is a third party victim.
You can grow, cook, make your own drugs at home, do them, have fun, and the law has nothing to say about it. And everything is fine. Druggies know that if they stay inside they won't be bothered, so they stay inside and don't bother anyone else.
(But if you're visibly drugged out or bothering people outside, you better pray that it's the Policia Local that will come and get you, because if it's the Policia National they will bash your head in)

Ban it, burn it all and the people promoting it. It's basically modern Opium for basically the same reasons the Brits exploited China with Opium. It is basically pushed by media for decades to keep people placated and people gobble that shit up.

There is a reason you don't have anyone advocating for uppers to be legal, if it was the case then the people in power would have already watered the tree of liberty.

legal, regulated for safety when sold by vendors, and sold cheaply and easily. you should be able to grow it on your own too.

Same with firearms.
Pretty much, although firearms are a lot trickier to manufacture safely. Making your own ammunition especially. But then again, I wish I could legally make my own fireworks and can't.

People say "B-but what about alcohol and cigarettes" but that seems like whataboutism. Alcohol and tobacco are bad too, and I've seen people ruin their lives over alcohol too, but those are grandfathered into culture so there's nothing that can be done about them. Same can't be said about Marijuana.
Yeah what about alcohol, hmm? I think you’re overlooking a key lesson about recreational drug use; the US tried to ban alcohol, but it only forced the whole industry underground and made the gangs who controlled the booze really powerful.

The same can be said for marijuana. It’s grandfathered in as much as alcohol or cigarettes; your parents probably used pot at least once. And prohibition of marijuana has led to it being sold on the black market by dealers. When you buy your drugs from some shady black guy, there is no quality control. Poor quality, mold, vitamin E, etc can get into or be cut into your dope. Better than to legalize it, impose an excise tax, and have that pay for a government lab to test cannabis for its potency and safety.

Adults are allowed to make their own choices, even if you disagree with them or the choice they make is objectively bad. And I know some people straight up addicted to pot; who need it to function like some people need coffee. But it’s not your prerogative to backseat drive other people’s lives for them. I don’t want a nanny state “protecting” me from everything the state thinks makes me a less productive worker bee.

Medical yes, recreational - uncertain about it. Seems like weed is actively being pushed as a replacement for tobacco (flavored tobacco bans, New Zealand outright trying to ban tobacco forever for anybody born after 2009 while also pushing for legal weed). That's retarded. Either go all in, legal drugs and all, or leave it at good ol' tobacco and alcohol + any drug proven to work for medicinal purposes.

I don't know but now that weed is legal, all the fat sloppy losers reek of weed as they wander listlessly around town, making family outings unpleasant for everyone. I think I've come to the conclusion that weed turns you into a nigger.

Agreed but this seems like a losing battle in North America. Even rightoid zoomers are pro weed. Funnily enough, this is one of those things that Europe hasn't caught up with the U.S in. They're usually one step ahead of the U.S whenever a trend gains traction there (like gay/trans rights for example) so that they could pat themselves on the back over being so "liberal" and stuff, but in case of marijuana, except for germany and netherlands (even there it's a grey area), it's pretty much strictly illegal everywhere in Europe and there's no strong political movement promoting its legalization.

No need to drug the population when it is already docile and doesn't have access to guns

I mean dude, that lolbert argument can be used for legalizing meth and heroin.

That argument doesn't work when U.S is the one that started the whole war on drugs and has the highest number of prisoners with marijuana possession charges.

The USA isn't wasn't always monolithic, you had the politicians starting the war because they wanted their voters' streets clean, while the elitists backed media brainwashed the population that marijuana was totally cool and rebellious. The media ended up winning, and the politicians use legalization as a carrot.
