I picked the game up literally a week ago on a whim and I've been kind of addicted to the exploration and zone completion. Funny to see this thread pop up here at roughly the same time. Just arrived on the Black Shores today, having 100%'d Huanglong and Mount Firmament before it. The story has been passable so far but definitely nothing to write home about. The zone completion autism has flared up inside me, however, and it's been an excellent time waster.

As for characters I want, I haven't really put much thought into it at the moment. Just been running with what the game has given me and had a fun time. Though I will say that Jinhsi's eyebrows definitely stand out in my memory after completing the Mount Firmament story (In a good way)

I originally stopped at 1.1 and came back for 2.0, I will say 2.0's story has been a thousand times better than 1.0's.

I'm also new but I've been playing a couple weeks. The exploration stays at a high quality, Black Shores and the 2.0 areas continue adding new mini challenges and ease up on the dialogue-heavy side quests, which are fine in concept but were machine-translated nonsense in practice.

they rewrote the first 4 chapters or so in 6 months, the janky launch and MTL translations were part of that. over the course of the first few patches it becomes less of an issue.
