They say it's okay to express disgust for pedophiles (not child molesters, but pedophiles who don't act on it), but why is that okay?

Why is it okay to shun and express disgust for someone for having a psychiatric disorder? Someone who probably suffers because of it? All they do is making him feel worse.
There are many pedophiles who were driven into suicide because they couldn't deal with it anymore and because they were too afraid to go to a therapist to get treated, because society hates and demonizes pedophiles, even if they never hurt anyone.

What these people don't realize is that associating with a website that harbors admitted pedophiles is being part of the problem. It sure as hell isn't helping pedophiles to give them access to child porn, it doesn't matter if it's drawn or written or actual photographs, it doesn't help them. And it doesn't help your case when you provide a haven for people who want to fuck children.

You gotta love how they're just ignoring those big posts Himawari and I made where we're basically agreeing with them on this subject. So many of them just seem blindly hostile towards any kind of outside element. They're like prey animals, terrified of anything unfamiliar because it might be a predator.

idk, he kind of has a point (assuming "he" because Wizardchan). Something interesting to think about. Why do I have the right to express disgust for a pedophile who is keeping himself in check, when it's the crime of child molestation that I find so repulsive?

I guess it's because just the thought of being sexual with a child is so repulsive to me, especially as someone who worked in child care for years, that just seeing/hearing someone say "I'm a pedophile" would make me feel sick. It's not exactly healthy to keep the disgust all bottled up, so I'd need to vent it somewhere. And I suppose that if they're discussing and fantasizing about it in a public forum, then they're perpetuating the idea to others(even if indirectly) that child molestation is okay, when it is not. And likewise, they should be allowed the space to vent that themselves, but I think a more private setting, like a forum locked from all but a trusted few or even with a therapist, would be more appropriate. (You could argue that I should therefore be doing my venting in a private forum too, but, well... Lolcow General USED to be locked, haha.)

I feel no ill-will towards someone who has a psychological disorder and is doing what he can to deal with it responsibly. Sex with a child is never okay, but I can't imagine what kind of suffering someone who is attracted to children but has no desire to hurt a child and restrains themselves appropriately would be experiencing, and I even feel respect for that, I'd say.

I specifically mentioned that I'm not talking about child molesters, but about pedophiles who never acted on it.

Defending them is not the way to go either, as it may encourage pedophiles to act on their desires.

You could make the argument that porn* distracts sick fucks from actually going after children. Its a lesser of two evils thing sure but at least these fuckers are in their parents basement and not in a tree outside a daycare.

Child porn, if it depicts real children, is absolutely the same as child molestation and just as reprehensible, in my eyes. If it's anime loli porn or whatever, then that's (relatively*) fine, so long as the artist didn't, like, use real children as models/reference, haha.

*I'm still opposed to even drawn child porn, to an extent, because it can be taken as encouragement for what's depicted to be reenacted in real life. But it's sort of a necessary evil I guess, and decidedly the lesser one.
