It could also be that since there is a lot of animosity from the woke crusaders towards "whiteness" and "heteronormativity" and being "cis" a lot of white teenagers and young adults might feel inclined to hop on the troon train in order to increase their credibility with the cool, woke crowd.

Also, a lot of non-white/ethnic cultures tend to be very socially conservative, and so you would not be able to get away with this sort of thing in a lot of Asian, Hispanic/Latino, black families without being thrown out of the house or becoming a social pariah in your cultural group.
