I'm a zoomer who grew up in a pretty left-aligned city, in a left-aligned country, with mostly left-aligned friends. It's no wonder I originally considered myself to also be a leftist and just disingenuously went along with what everyone else around me was saying. In no way was I going to alienate myself by expressing any wrongthink, even if I truly believed it.

Eventually the bullshit wore thin and unsurprisingly, the two biggest catalysts that got me to stop being so disingenuous and actually start thinking for myself were jeets and trannies. My leftoid friends all came from money, lived in nice houses, drove nice cars that Daddy bought for them. I meanwhile was trying to navigate the jeet-filled job market and they had the gall to sit there and tell me that endless immigration is good and you're racist if you oppose it. Easy to say when you're too rich to even think about needing a job at Walmart or McDonald's or whatever.

I would always accidentally fuck up the pronouns of any tranny I met as well, just because it's obviously difficult to be that wilfully discordant. This was met with vitriol instead of understanding, of course. Everybody knows deep down that the trans movement is complete bullshit, and it's just dependent on how much you are willing to lie to yourself and others. At some point I just couldn't be bothered to do that anymore. Lots of little incidents like this over time ended up pushing me further and further away from the left, many such cases!
 
I have been WN for nearly 15 years now but i used to think libertarianiam was the path of least resistance (eliminate welfare and they'll go home etc)

Now millions must die, also welfare should stay for my tribe since we're the ones who pay for it anyway
 
covid was something that happened in my lifetime, that affected me personally and deeply, that made me realize the color of a politician's tie does not matter and that institutions can not be trusted. it's the ruling class against the people, and they have no scruples over sacrificing you and fucking you over for their ends. it's what solidified anarchist ideas in me.
 
Actually going out into the world and interacting with people of different races/cultures/beliefs/orientations instead of just reading about them online.

Progressive idealism simply can't endure that.

For years, I'd heard the left say that gays weren't going to force anyone to do anything, but then the gays started demanding Christians do things despite their religious objections (like the bakery bullshit.) At the exact same time, Muslims weren't being forced to do things if they claimed it was against their religious beliefs (like transporting alcohol as truckers.)

Nothing pushes someone away from an ideology more than the worst members of that ideology.

It was definitely hypocrisy, not to mention that leftards take a dim view of self-defense in general. People treating politicians like gods and ideology like Scripture helps nothing either.

These are the people who treat "science" like a religion despite questioning science being the whole point of science in the first place.
 
15y ago my political views were way more /pol/-tier, a lot of which was just passed down to me by being a young edgelord who played a lot of CoD.

Recently though I've been more antagonistic to the mainstream American Right since it just seems to be attracting retards with no actual higher-aspirations, especially since elon bought xitter.
They've seemingly abandoned all practical solutions and optics-friendly discourse in lieu of this "just like mock the libs" method that Elon runs, which works when you literally own the platform and have fuck-you money but fails when you try it at a town hall meeting or when you're trying to get legislation passed banning the trooning of children. Practical solutions need-not be abandoned in favor of litty frogposting and content-brained shit.

I think the European right gets this for the most part since they're not operating under any illusion that some "based savior" will come down and cast out The Raped from his throne, leading us into Great America BasedWorld or whatever and know that the power needs to come from the people, and you can't just frontrun your public-facing persona as some grotesque chud that posts about TND all day while interacting with irony-poisoned internet sadists.

  • My job sector was gutted after ten years by brown janissary slave-labor. There is no viable career pivot.
  • Institutional racism was actually implemented for-reals this time, except it's reversed so now only said browns (and white women who vote for them to be here) may ever benefit.
  • Both halves of the American political duopoly are completely useless and will fix nothing. They like slaves who are satisfied with less every generation and will fall for the "Vote for me to fix everything" grift forever.
  • The American reality is just trying to live according to the law, failing and then committing crime to eat until the government kills or imprisons you. In the meantime you will have to evade brainwashed demons who genuinely want to kill all the truth-tellers to receive table scraps from their masters.
A million hands at a million keyboards want to call me "nigger" for saying all of this but it's only because the K-shaped economy hasn't crushed their bones yet. I would say making all of them homeless like me would teach them reality, but I know they don't care about the reality, they're just amoral fags who would support anything if it kept them just one level elevated above somebody like me.
 
It wasn't one single thing. A bunch of different events shaped the evolution of my political views from a staunch progressive to a generally cynical, socially right-leaning, independent:
  • Atheism+ shattered my belief that dogma, irrationality, and hostility to criticism were a product of religion, instead of a general human flaw everyone is susceptible to
  • Obama's first term massively redpilled me on a candidate's stated beliefs over their actions in office, particularly among Democrat politicians
  • GamerGate was probably the peak moment where I realized the media has their own agenda to pursue and that I should look at their characterization of any event with some skepticism

Jack Galen McKinley was 16 when they met, 17 when they fucked. Mentally ill homo teen who would threaten suicide. Personally, I don’t have a problem with it, this is just how gays are. What I have a problem with is gays being tolerated out in the open in society. There’s no point trying to regulate their sexual behavior.
 
Where I fall politically contradicts both tenants of the left and right and my life was destabilized several times due to violent political movements in my home country, so I try my best to assess all issues from the perspectives of both sides and then from there I cast my judgement.

Though I’m more left than probably most Kiwi’s, with that said…becoming a parent has definitely made me re-evaluate my previously held beliefs and values, and I’ve gradually become more conservative. I really am starting to think that a cohesive family unit is the antecedent for preventing mental illness and dissatisfaction that are becoming more commonplace in modern life.
