Well if it were one of those Hans Christian Anderson stories he'd be screwed because he had something agaisnt happy endings. And if it were a Grimm fairy tale he would also probably die or be horribly mutilated.
His best bet would be to sneak in a Disney adaptation of a fairy tale.

Chris is physically unattractive because of his personality and behavior. He's overweight and weak because he's too lazy to exercise and ignorant to eat healthy, and he looks stupid because he of his choice in clothing, his refusal to take care of himself, and his tomgirlism. You can't have a handsome Chris while keeping everything else the same.

But this is a hypothetical, so no. I think we'd treat him a little better because he has shown he will put effort into bettering himself. It's really difficult to keep weight off and muscles on.
