I got Februs. Good news is, he's available at the start of act 2. He's pretty cool both personality and gameplay wise, has a lot of unique talents and skills. I respecced him instantly though since he has his officer tree maxed out, and I simply refuse to use officers without the Commanding Voice. Plus I wanted to test some of these skills of his on the first Anver fight, they seem pretty good.
Personality wise, he's unlike a usual Techpriest, he's talkative and gregarious, a curious researcher. He 100% hides something under this joviality, and it's almost guaranteed he's a heretek.

I also lol'ed at Aurora fight, the rebel sniper shot Kibellah but the bullet pierced her and killed the boss.
His rail cannon is fucking crazy. I've accidently reloaded with him a few times but it didn't matter because it just super charges it. Really good for act 2. He's squishy and vulnerable as fuck though. Don't know how I'm going to fit him into Commorragh since I decided to go Heretic, meaning I have to stomach the knife-ear until you can finally sacrifice her.
How is the new augmentation system? Do the implants show up on your character depending on what it is?

I'll probably jump back into the game for another playthrough later today. Thinking about doing either a commissar or militarum commander origin.
Yeah. Some of them look kind of awkward. And, of course, you can't just unchop your arms or reinsert your extracted organic bits

Februs being very chad was not on my bingo card but I firmly believe his character type was needed earlier, the jolly big guy. Not only because Ulfar is an embarrassing animal but Act 2 is the best part of the game and having more frens onboard is a good thing.

I am happy with getting a techpriest. Stygies 8, the forge world which is the
xenarite (alien tech using) antagonist
in Mechanicus 2.

I would have been happy with a Krieger too or a freebooter, but I know some people were overdosing with Hopium about a Thunder Warrior or Tau/Kroot merc, the latter is in Inquisition game already.

What is the best class for Eogun if you don't want him as officer? I may just keep him as is, but if another works really well with his electric railgun I may switch.

i demand a freeboota
purely because we have three human DLC companions already and two shitty knife-ears i always kill
need me a kindred spirit

Eogun takes the most advantage with officer and the servo skull. An extra turn to two companions, and alot of abilities to spend AP on to charge up his magnarail, which will do more damage than any sort of weapon you can equip him with otherwise.

The character I'm most surprised by is Pasqal, who can now scale his physical attack damage with his intelligence thanks to augs. And use an eye that lets him shoot people for more damage with augs. Using an arc rifle, he can hit three different enemies twice if they're in range. Shame he's squishy on Unfair.

So you do meet Trazyn
And end up invading that one section of his Museion with your ancestor after the skullhead steals the fucking warrant. You can trade Sebastian, like a bitch. Or you can fight with him against Trazyn. If you win, the xenos filth is absolutely seething beyond an air of smugness. The ending slide for him says he came back to collect you years later with no one knowing the results, regardless if you're a daemon prince or have a fully obedient c'tan baby at that point.

Pretty brave of Owlcat to kill Trazyn off like that.
Just kidding. Like 40k will ever kill off any of Ward's pets.

he went heretic
cool

as ridiculous as it may be with everyone seemingly oblivious and not commenting on your ship becoming a chaos equivalent of a deldar home, it feels more like an arc than just being a faithful dogmagod or a retarded cuck.
Neutral is the traditional Rogue Trader experience of doing whatever is most convenient to you at any given time and is a good fit for the game.

So Owlcat in their infinite wisdom decided that what the world needs is another fucking publisher-specific launcher.
The announcement stats should tell you how it went.

Not only was the idea not received well by itself, apparently they had an Owlcat moment and the launcher was buggy. :story:
- Games wouldn't start from the launcher.
- Owners of DH beta would be sent there instead of RT.
- "Disabling" the launcher only hides the window and starts the process in the background.
- Rolling back the version broke launching the game even directly.
- The launcher obviously introduced extra friction on Linux (for a Steam Deck verified title, mind you).

And so, 19 hours later, they reverted it.

Steam forums are on fire. (more than those usually are)
Reddit is on fire.
Discord is on fire.

Got a small wave of negative reviews.

What a way to shoot yourself in the foot. :story:

Gamedevs have to be some of the dumbest motherfuckers on this planet.

Even the blackest spearchucking nigger from the deep, black heart of Africa, with an IQ in the 50s, isn't as fucking retarded as the average gamedev.

No wonder developers need to fellate Larry Fink for his jewbucks to keep the lights on. I'm starting to think the reason they consistently keep making games nobody wants is not malice, but sheer stupidity.

Owlcat historically does dumb things when things are going good for them. They did some data collection thing for wrath of the righteous years ago that they backed down on when people shitted on them for that too.

You can get the NecronTech Hotshot Lasgun in Act 4 now with the DLC.

it is so fucking good
maybe not as broken as heavy bolter, but it's so much more aesthetic

literally who asked for it anyway?

at the very least, they know to take a hint
which, as the bare minimum as it may be, is more than the vast majority of other game dev companies

As a Russian software house they pretty much certainly aren't getting any sweet deals from Globohomo right now, so they have to rely on actually selling games.

Anyway, I'm avoiding spoilers but can someone with the latest DLC tell me how much actual story content there is in it? As much as Void Shadows or less? And have they done anything about the difficulty problem or does this DLC make the game even more incredibly easy with powercreep and more XP?

I don't know why I'm asking - it's not like I'll have a chance to play it before 2028, but I'm curious.

Bladedancer and Executioner got nerfed to hell. It adds augments which actually make Pascal and the new companion combat viable to an extent but not anything gamebreaking. Eogunn in particular is pretty useful for act 2 but drops off as enemies gain enough health to tank his magnarail, but he's still pretty great as his Bring It Down and unique abilities as an overseer (his most optimal second archetype) can give an extra ally in range of his servoskull a turn or his unique buffs besides the one you target. There is extra content in act 2, 4, and 5. But no investigative questline.

What are some of the best classes/build types for party members?

I'm starting out fresh and the number of options is daunting. Don't need anything overly broken just need some general 'this is good for them' guidance.

Abelard is the designated tank. You can just as easily make him an arch-militant for his second archetype, but I almost always pick that class and Argenta is absolutely wasted as anything else. He can legitimately carry the vast majority of encounters. Give him the navy feat that counters if he dual-wields, and he'll do fine enough damage just getting hit. It stacks with Vanguard's counter-attack stance, which is just insane. Make sure you get the Malpian Shroud and every talent associated with giving him temporary wounds, including the Vanguard one to turn temporary wounds into strength, so you can see him cleave everything in half on a riposte.

Kibellah can't just rofl stomp with executioner and consequence free Death From Above anymore. The first class you'd think a raised assassin would take, Assassin, is now her actual optimal second archetype. Not anything impressive at first. And then you get notes on weaknesses in act 4 and suddenly she's doing ridiculous amounts of unavoidable damage with blade dance, no opening hits necessary but they help. Then again, everyone is ridiculous in act 4. Heinrix, being an actual torturer, benefits most from Executioner now. With a mid-late game item, he can cover half the map with toxic fire on his first turn and make nearly every enemy take and fail a test to not fall prone. Tossup between making him a blaster caster or a straight up warrior. There's a lategame item that substitutes willpower for dodge and an early game one that gives +3 dodge for each psy casting. So don't worry about leveling agility for him.

Cassia and Pasqal can both be Grand Strategists, but the class is absolutely useless outside of combat locus, which isn't even that good without the 4x bonus you can make it give from getting a certain item in act 3, and starting first. I make Cassia a Master Tactician to benefit from her already ridiculous buffing and support skills prevented from being mediocre by her absurd Navigator talents. Pasqal arguably does more as a Bounty Hunter, but that is the most annoying class to play as to accomplish a fraction of what an arch-militant can do, so I just make him a Grand Strategist.

Idira is an Overseer. No arguments against it or for anything else. She can buff the entire party and turn any single-hit psyker ability into an AoE if you use the Overseer Heroic Action. Far more than what you'll get as an Operative or Assassin. Don't even think about making her a Grand Strategist. Negress is an idiot.
Anyway. As for talent choices, which make or break builds depending on your reading comprehension, anything that lasts until the end of combat and stacks is worth taking. Percentage increases, action point saving, and certain debuffs are absolutely fantastic. If you're playing a melee psyker, only the two talents that increase your charge range by tile and make it so you don't spend all your MP charging in the first place are worth taking. Maybe interception for the -1 AP cost to a warrior ability. I'm serious.

You'll know what I mean as you slowly come to dread leveling up.

Remember that you do have a limited amount of free respecs, starting from Act 2. Save and reload if you must, but I think you're still given quite a bit of leeway before you have to start spending profit factors for it.
