excellently executed onimusha 3, I liked leon the nomap in it but it felt a bit awkward that he didn't seem like he was the fundamental character designed for the game especially with flying enemies. I'm gonna play dawn of dreams next because I'm definitely gonna get way of the sword. I originally only played the first game and played through it again and then 2 and 3.
I thought either 1 or 2 was the best so far, probably 1 because in 2 they decided the annoying flying blue orbs should be able to attack you. It also felt like Issen timings got worse as the games progress because in 2 there's one enemy with an Iai-style move that you Issen them before they attack when they sheath their blades. It's a really odd decision and makes sense but the game doesn't convey it well because every tutorial including player made ones will tell you hit the attack button right before the enemy hits no exceptions. I'm all for it but for a game where timing matters like that its a bit off putting especially since the audio cue from 1 was removed and the music gets louder so all you have to go off of is some so-so visuals. Also the camera angles in all 3 games are so egregious its insane sometimes. I'm glad that the new one is going for third person exclusively.

I never understood why this game was universally praised for it's narrative and characters.

The story is paper thin basic bitch "muh revenge" and 80% of the dialogue is "git on up here Arthur!" "We gotta git them Baggs Brothers Arthur!"

Not exactly Blood Meridian.

Yeah I wasn't impressed with the story. Dutch comes up with a harebrained scheme that's obviously gonna end in disaster and it ends in disaster but Dutch has a harebrained scheme to get them out of this but it ends in disaster but Dutch has a harebrained scheme and it sounds like it'll end in disaster but we'll do it anyway and it ends in disaster but Dutch has harebrained scheme ... tbf I think a lot of it is just because the gameplay is limited and pretty much every mission has to end in a huge gunfight.

With GTA there is a lot more mission variety, plus it doesn't take itself as seriously so they have way more narrative options. And driving from mission to mission is a lot of fun whereas in RDR getting from mission to mission is a chore
