Explains everything wrong with "indie" game publishers. They're legit public venture capitalist companies.

I was looking up Tunic recently with some doubts about whether it's a real indie game and found out their publisher, Finji, along with a number of other "indie game developers" petitioned the government through an amicus brief to allow Microsoft to buy Activision-Blizzard. Very indie.
what do you think about games that have extra levels/endings behind the hardest difficulty? as in you'd have to play the game on hard to unlocked the "fuck you" difficulty option, then completing it on that difficulty gives you the true ending, then completing on that same difficulty with 100% completion or some other added task gives you the 100% primo true and honest ending?
Locking the ending behind hard mode can be okay in some games, but difficulty modes should never be locked behind playtime. Sure, it may not be feasible to play the game on hard the first time through, but I'm not guaranteed to have my save file the next time I want to play the game, and if I want to play on hard it's because I don't want to play on lower difficulties. At least the Internet has save files you can download for some of these games, but it's ridiculous that downloading a save file would ever be a recommended practice.

similar principles apply to Decks too

The only example I can think of is contra 3 which adds an extra final boss on hard. Thats a good game.

I can't escape autistic deck/dice building roguelikes this year. Already got The Silent and The Ironclad in StS 2 on Ascension 10, beat Dungeon Clawler with every character and have some characters working towards Debt 20, shit just never ends. Can't wait for Dark Heresy to drop so i finally have a real game i can sink hundreds of hours in again, takes all my willpower to not grab the alpha already. Handmancers and Die in the Dungeon are kinda shit by the way, don't waste your time or money, Prime Monster is not good either. I burned through pretty much every deckbuilder there is so now i am back to replaying old ones, sunk around 60 hours into Across the Obelisk in the past month again, a game i have well over a couple of hundred hours in even before the first DLC dropped years ago. Also gave Roguebook and Banners of Ruin a spin again and got thoroughly lost in both, BoR is the definition of a flawed gem and anyone into Deckbuilders should give it a try. Roguebook ain't half bad either, beautiful artwork, bit too simplistic mechanics for me these days, definitely worth a go still if you like that kind of game.
Mr. Deckbuilder saar, what can you tell me about Pluto?

ngl this new Bond game is pretty good. IO use a proprietary engine so it's refreshing to play something that isn't Unrealslop. The writing is really good, they've "got" Bond even down to the way he walks. The hand to hand combat feels so much like Sleeping Dogs, which is one of my favourite games.

So far an enjoyable game, not groundbreaking or whatever but not everything needs to be.

Fable got delayed for a sixth time. New release window is Fall 2027.
Forgot this was even a thing. I don't know anyone that's excited for it.

But I'm told there are some non-white characters in it so it has to be dogshit??

I hope it's good but the character designs for 007 Last Light are giving me DEI consultant vibes.
Happy to say that all the worries are for naught. Not DEI, not Woke.
If it was, I would tell you. I know I’m just some guy on the internet but I promise it’s not woke.

Watching the haters cope and seethe has been great. Pretty sure they’re up to 2 million copies sold already. 1.5 in the first day.
Bond is back.

Go in the IO Interactive thread and watch the cope and seethe from them as they scream about the game being bad. It’s fucking hilarious.
They showed a clip of a retard trying to do a Mixtape you let the game play itself…Except it was during a sequence where Bond was driving a fucking Garbage truck during a clearly scripted scene. Like the driving during a lot of linear games.
Eventually they HAD to remember that in order to push diversity as a virtue they had to actually make the entertainment good to make us consume it.
Except this game doesn’t have that.
All the browns Bond works with except M hate him and think he shouldn’t be in the program.
Meanwhile his white coworkers love him and see him for who he really is.

My cousin said the parts where you actually mow down thugs with an SMG or brawl half a dozen dudes and falcon punch them into chandeliers or glass cabinets are pure Bondkino but the game has tons of Sony cinematic press W to walk forward slowly while an NPC monologs sections that really drag down the overall experience.

That a fair assessment or too harsh?

It has naughty dog walky/talky bits that will slow repeat playthroughs but nothing that's egregious to ruin the first. There is a vr simulations mode that allow you to focus on the gameplay and do score attack stuff.

It's a sad fact of life on the internet that there's no longer any nuance when it comes to something being good or bad and it's either BASED KINO or WOKE DEI DOGSHIT and never anything in between.

I bit the bullet and bought another Xbox One X, fingers crossed it doesn't die too. Funny enough, it came with two of the original Xbox One controllers, the ones with no headphone jack. I can definitely say the revised pads are a big step up, but MS still makes shitty controllers.

Has anyone transplanted the laser from a One X into a One S? between my One X that had the GPU croak and my One S that won't read game DVDs, I figure I could make a working One S and recoup some of my costs on this whole Xbox misadventure I went on.

It has a *bit* of that going on but not enough to ruin the game or even hamper it. Mostly during the intro/Pre Title sequence. It’s really one of the few Bond games where you’re actually doing real spy shit and not just shooting the entire time. Even EoN which I love dearly is mostly just shooting. It truly was Uncharted before Uncharted. So was Indiana Jones and The Emperor’s Tomb actually.
This game’s fisticuffs reminds me of that game, Uncharted 4 and RDR2. Really weighty and punchy.

But yeah Bond is super cool, all the sluts in the game make ‘fuck me’ eyes at him. The puns and quips are there. The shooting is awesome too. You can only carry one extra magazine so you’re constantly having to switch guns and it’s constant forward motion.
Really awesome game.

I can think of about 20 games that you have to play on Hard to get the real ending, or even play all the stages in the game. It was pretty common in the 16-bit era, and even some games in the 8-bit era if they had selectable difficulty.

Mr. Deckbuilder saar, what can you tell me about Pluto?
Played the demo for all of five minutes and did not like the mechanics at all. I should try it again and give it more of a chance but its first impression was much worse than other weird deckbuilders i tried out via Steam demo. You did not ask but i feel the same about Shroom and Gloom, much like with Pluto i heard good things about it from other Deckbuilder autists only to end up quitting the demo in annoyance after a short time. I feel both games got some good ideas but suffer from these ideas not being adapted into properly fun gameplay mechanics by their respective devs.

Been playing Starship Troopers Terran Command. I like it but I think the big deal breaker(outside of the voice acting feeling extremely lame for gruff black sergeant man) is that it feels like it demands a lot of micro but the controls are not at all smooth. Like I want to keep a reserve trooper unit in the back of my formation to cover my snipers in the event bugs spawn from behind and it has to constantly be done manually, or I'd like to move my units quickly out of the line of fire of plasma mortars or just to clear the lanes of fire and that feels like I have to click 20 times for it to finally register.
Selecting units on the fly is a pain and I find myself constantly needing to make battlegroups just to pick specific units and 'assign' them to a flank and manually move them instead of moving my entire group as a single unit.
