Assume for the sake of argument you live in a third world shithole. It may be (hypothetically) comparatively stable and comparatively prosperous compared to other third world shitholes, but it is still a third world shithole.
Assume then that politically the country has completely stagnated, that you as a hypothetical citizen of this country have virtually no voting power or say as to what direction your country takes, your constitution is practically non-existent and whatever good comes of that is purely at the whims of whomever happens to hold the reigns of power.
Moreover there's no real idea of an election, either cabinet, presidential or civil and all you can really hope for is someone who isn't too much of a dictator and wouldn't rock the status quo much to turn your shithole into a mega shithole.

Assume also that the issues do not stop there and the hypothetical citizens of this hypothetical shithole also happen to predominantly be what I can summarize as niggers. Cheating, lying, hypocritical, stinking, deodorant avoiding, beast of burden abusing, dog/cat hating, food wasting, charity begging, child migrant wave sending, drug using, kindness exploiting, mafia forming, rapist, FAT FUCK, criminal niggers.
There are some good ones but there are also lots of bad ones, and the good ones can instantly become bad due to let's say socio-economic factors.

Finally assume that in your hypothetical citizenship that you, being born and raised in the country, love it deep down as your motherland and have tried to focus hard on the silver linings of everything(which hypothetically there are many but damn if they're not massively outweighed), but having had the chance to travel abroad to more civilized and successful countries that the flaws of your homeland have been made even more pronounced.
But let's say you're hypothetically really stubborn and refuse to permenantly leave or immigrate, partly because you wouldn't truly be accepted or feel at home elsewhere, partly because you don't want to feel like a leech on another country, and partly because deep down your growing wish is to at least die knowing that any hypothetical children you'd have would live in a country approaching the civilization, prosperity and overall quality of life of the foreign countries you had the chance to visit and not have their lives stolen by corruption, crime or various forms of incompetence and fucking hell if other countries did it why not this one.

How does one, as a hypothetical middle of the road average joe, unfuck his or her shithole instead of just being a whiny nigger online?
Say you have the bare minimum of any political, philosophical or civic studies. What do you possibly do to make shithole not a shithole? Do you just focus on yourself and your family and keep praying things don't fall apart? Do whatever little is available to you and hope at some point people follow your example instead of exploit your kindness? Or is it just fucked and enjoy the ride until you die to whatever?


tl;dr:I'm a mega jelly of the US's prosperity, culture and civilization and would like to explore ways of feasibly approaching that in my hypothetical country as just some dude.

Or, if you want an abridged version; become leader of your shithole of choice and use legislation to remodel society so that it behaves like a first world society. LKY's inspiration was 1950's London. Yours may be different. El Salvador may also be a (more modern) example of this.
 
You're incredibly optimistic, so I'll give it the best chance.

The USA (and other similar 1st world democracies) was built on its people and its institutions. American institutions evolved from lesser British ones, and were adopted by a people who spent 150 years on the frontier before rebelling into a new type of country. In part these institutions were inherited, and in part they created their own. But the common trend of successful democracies is that the supporting institutions (church, guild, social, mercantile, etc) existed before they became democracies. Those institutions, when given protection and freedom, flourished into whatever greatness the 1st world can lay claim to.

So if you're wondering where your 3rd world homeland can start, it has to start with the institutions, which arise from the character of your people. If your people and their native (non-political) culture are shitty, then the institutions they create will be shitty. A good people with bad institutions can fix the problem by overhauling their institutions, but short of genocide it is extremely hard to go from institutions down to overhauling the people. You'll have to take a good hard look at what your people do when left to their own local, primitive traditions, to judge their character and your ultimate chances of success.

If you think they're worthwhile, then the best thing you can do as a powerless middle class do-gooder is to promote institutions. Focusing on yourself and your family is a start, but that just makes your life better, not your country. You have to leverage your good family life, and your family's good standing in the community, into a lasting set of repeatable, sustainable traditions, organizations, cultural norms, and cultural taboos. If you get enough good families together, you get a good neighborhood or town; enough good neighborhoods become a good city, and if you're lucky, you get enough good cities to be a worthwhile country. The institutions that scale upward like this are lasting foundations, the ones imposed from the top down are fragile and forgotten as soon as the central power weakens.

This isn't an American idea, it was originally Greek and has been copied many times over thousands of years. The American neo-liberal conceit is that you can just copy liberal institutions, graft them onto a people with a radically different background, and get the same good outcomes. You can't, period, no debate. Ask the Afghanis or Iraqis how well that works. Or the 1990s Russians, or 1920s Germans, or 1800s French, if you prefer historical examples.

If you aren't exaggerating, then you have to look at what institutions or governments best work for niggers. Depending on who you ask, that is either village-level rule, tribal alliances, slavery, or strongman dictators. I won't recommend any of those, for obvious reasons, but also because you don't get to 1st world status with any of them.

"Political stagnation" is not what keeps makes a country a shithole, though it might be what keeps it there. Great nations enter stagnation all the time; those ancient Greek democracies never died, they just stagnated in place until the Romans conquered them. Like I said above, the real answer as to whether it's possible lies in the nature of the people themselves.
 
Lee Kuan Yew says yes, but it's a huge gamble. A benevolent dictator would probably be necessary, but those are a rarity.
Some countries are working on unshitting themselves (Thailand comes to mind) in different, less political ways, but you probably need either a strong sense of nationalism, or a widespread religious culture which stresses honesty and community over selfishness.

So, maybe.
 
Conquer it and rule with an iron fist. That's it. You drag them into civilization and cull who can't assimilate to human living.
 
Norway is a clean safe country because it’s full of Norwegians.
The third world isn’t a place, it’s the people.
El Salvador locked up the people who were causing a problem, and left the decent people free and now El Salvador is much nicer. Until the vast majority of your population is decent your country will be a shithole. If your country goes from majority decent to massively mixed it will become a shithole (like the uk.)
No amount of money or institution overrides the root cause of shit countries, which is the people who live there.
