Today I finished the threeway transfer of data between my new laptop, my old laptop, and the harddrive I pulled out of my desktop that got fried by lightning a couple years back. Whew. Took a bit of juggling. And it turns out I'd built up a decent collection of true crime podcasts before my old desktop got fried, so it's going to be good getting reacquainted with them.

took a covid test because ive been concerned about it. I don't have a fever, fatigue or any of the big red flags the cdc is saying you should seek help for or feel very sick but still. I'm also not at immediate risk of dying since im not a senior citizen, immunity compromised or have any raspatory conditions...that i know of.
 
Today I stumbled upon @NaziVegeta’s profile, fucking around and exploring the site, and found the last thing he ever sent was that the people he called friends and family let him down, and has since then never posted. It reminds me that at any moment of any day, the worst can happen- people keep being people, and fuck up, get fucked over, and fuck everything. I’m writing this on a bench, outside my city, at a bus station. I don’t have a card, I’m just sitting here next to this obvious schizo. Says his name is Joey Schmoey (God that’s fucking hilariously bad), and he saw me typing this. He told me, “So uh, random dude, retard man, hm. Even if the worse happens, there is always a worse then it. So, don’t think like it’s worse. Think of worse when it’s really just better, and less better.”

Thanks Joey, why the fuck was that profound.

Today I had one of those moments with my mother. You know what I'm talking about. When you are looking for something, you complain about it, and your mom finds it in two seconds and then she asks you "What's this?"

When you are an adult and it happens in your own house it's pretty fucking embarassing. We laughed a lot about it.
 
I finished watching the anime 'Happy Sugar Life'. It's the first anime I watched in months, and the first new anime I''ve watched in probably a couple of years. It was pretty good. Fucked up. Not the standard anime type of fucked up over the top sex or violence, more fucked up in that there was only one character in the entire main cast that didn't have a screaming personality disorder, an untreated mental illness, a raging sexual deviancy, or severe PTSD. Is mental health care not a thing in Japan? Christ. I've being reading meta about the series to see what you could diagnose the main character with, but so far no one's been game to play psychiatrist.
 
Today I helped a family friend looking for a kitten to adopt. She recently lost hers (poor thing was run down by a car before her eyes) so she feels lonely without a cat around the house. I scoured all sites of the cat shelters in my district, we made a few calls, and apparently nobody have kittens to give for adoption: Corona-chan makes people lonely and children deprived, so a lot of people decided to adopt a cat. A few of them admitted that they have a few cats, but they've just took them in and, at least for the time being, they are too sick/feral to be adopted.

I'm happy for the kittens, but sad for her...
 
This is the second night of overnight roadworks in front of my house. Forgot to move my car and had a copper ring me to remind me, thankfully they didn't just tow it like they threatened to in their bulletin. Everything in the front of the house is shaking and the noise is very loud. Guess I'm not sleeping tonight either.
 
Took a shower. After several days of not having one because I destroyed the plumbing. Again. Because a couple weeks ago, I destroyed the plumbing for the first time. I was just trying to replace the shower head. Somehow, this turned into destroying the entire hot water part of the plumbing system for the whole house. It literally blew up in my face and sprayed me with nearly boiling water and I had to shut it off at the main.

The damage was so extensive that even in my hubris I couldn't pretend I could fix it so I had to wait three days for a plumber to show up and actually fix that.

Then due to a problem with the washer, I had the genius idea to try to fix that myself. That part actually worked, it was just a bunch of crud in the trap, blocking it from draining. But then, while moving the washer back into place, I smashed into a fucking joint in exactly the same hot water part I'd destroyed the week before. Yet another nice blast in the face of hot water followed by having to shut it down at the main.

This should have been a simple fix. At the point I started, it was. Just replace this little elbow joint and glue it together. Whatever. And then, of course, complications ensued. In the course of cutting the PVC pipes, I then smashed up shit further up the line which now meant that not only did I have to replace a single elbow joint, but a tee-joint and a bunch of other goddamn shit.

I nearly broke out in tears. This was a fucking nightmare. I considered calling the plumber again but I would not be humiliated this way by simple fucking physical objects. Not today, Satan.

So I actually drew it up. Physically diagrammed what I'd have to do. Bought a reciprocating saw. Figured out how to get what had to go where actually to go there. Sobered up long enough to do this actual legitimate thinking.

And then the actual reconstruction process took all of two hours. It involved a lot of PVC and atrociously horrible CPVC orange cement.

If there's a tl;dr it's never do plumbing yourself unless you are a masochist, a retard, or stupid. You almost always just make it worse and then suffer.
 
Moved a TV and a few consoles from my bedroom to a game room Im putting together. Wish i had posters for the walls, there's a neon sign shop on Hoboken I might commish a custom an arcade sign still gotta move the games and movies in maybe get a better chair and shelves.


It's a start but I still got a long way to go
 
Today I may have accidentally necro'd a thread. Technically it's been about 4 months since the last post, but I feel funky about it. I don't remember any rules regarding doing that, but that's probably my anxiety talking.
 
Today I went to go buy some Chinese food for dinner after work from the grocery store I asked the retard behind the glass how fresh it was he made a joke about Resident Evil I instantly regretted making this choice
