I doubt that's since you were so moved and vunerable because not getting your gay ship fulfilled was literally on par with dead unborn babies and more because the mom just realised their kid is a basket case and is silently regretting every life choice that led her up to this particular conversation.

I've known about Grace and her crowd for a while, but I had no idea how bad it truly was... The whole thing with 221BCon was so fucking ridiculous, I couldn't make heads or tails of it, I just remember huge text walls going back and forth and all these bizarre rumors like Grace had roundhouse-kicked someone in the head and taken a shit on the convention floor.

I feel bad for ever following any of these people now. Like Jesus Christ, you're really gonna browbeat CSA survivors? I think it's a weird coping mechanism to write underage or non-con fanfic, too, but for a group of people that screech about letting people do whatever they want without being "kinkshamed", y'all sure are quick to, well, kinkshame.

I'm not into Sherlock so I was only able to understand the basic gist of what went down at the con, but what I wanna know is how they were able to go 30 minutes over the runtime of a panel without getting booted by a staff member. Usually con staff pokes into panel rooms 15 minutes before theyre scheduled to end and keeps poking on and off until the next panel starts to make sure the panelists wrap it up on time and asist in takedown/setup of the next panel. Unless they were the last panel of the night or the next panelist didn't show up, though even then I still think someone would've told them to gtfo.

Then again I've heard this con also offers free " my preferred pronouns are _" stickers so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have their shit entirely together

That's a really interesting point, I was curious about that too. Maybe there was just too much screaming back and forth for anyone to notice..?

From what I was able to understand of the links, a particularly notorious fandom whackjob and a couple of her buddies showed up at someone's gender politics in fandom panel in order to start shit with the panelists (who they'd had prior drama with). They hijack the panel for over and hour bitching about fictional rape porn, some people claiming to be rape survivors speak up telling them to calm the fuck down only for them to get bitched out bad enough to make one of them cry, the whole thing is a massive shitshow that ends up running 30 minutes over.

Or something.

From what I heard, the con was otherwise successful, and it seemed like people had a good time. It wasn't a DashCon-tier disaster, at least, there was just this bit of drama.

The con is successful enough that it's been an annual thing for a couple years now, it's just that the impression I get is that due to the subject matter it attracts some pretty exceptional attendees. :powerlevel: I live and go to a lot of cons in that general part of the world and hear things through the grapevine (could actually go this year for science and report my findings, though not if I have to be sober).

Fandoms always have that one ship that Tumblr says is canon just because they are best friends. JJBA, for example, has Josuke and Okuyasu being the 'Canon' ship despite Okuyasu being the straightest character since Joseph and Josuke looking like a big dork when he thought he was going chick hunting with Jotaro.

Fandoms on tumblr thrive off these ships that have no evidence. They over analyse every little detail because, quite frankly, they don't have anything else better to do. It's not about representation to them, it's about them fulfilling their desires because they cannot get laid. There's heaps of media with LGBT characters, but they don't flock to it unless it's Anime or a cartoon heavily influenced by Anime. They flock to the media that 'implies' LGBT undertones because they need to force their views onto everyone. They need to feel superior.

I know Jackshit about Sherlock, but I know fandoms like it. It's funny because they preach how a Female lead doesn't have to be with a male lead, that they can stay friends. That's true, but Tumblr doesn't practice what they preach. If the leads were of the same gender, they have to be together no matter if it's out of character or goes against the plot.

Sounds like this creature's mom is resigned to it if you ask me. Never understood these people. They've been doing it in fanzines since Kirk/Spock, and it hasn't gotten any better. It reminds me of those tumblr users who flipped out after Harry Potter and the Cursed Child came out, because of some rumor that Malfoy's kid and Potter's kid were gay for each other.
