So a while ago I made a fake Jace account on Facebook as the result of a dumb ween plan. I ended up just using for Steam giveaways that needed you to like a Facebook page or something. Fast forward to today, I log in and find that I was sent the link above by someone who apparently believed I was actually him.

Long story short, it seems like the Stolen Valor crowd has caught wind of Jace.
Should be noted that the post uses a pic from the old wiki (not the gamer food one).

I dare say, John Lilyea is right on the money. So many people don't know what Stolen Valor actually is for, and, fortunately for us, he wouldn't even be worth bothering with.

Let the lulz roll ever onward.

What kind of a dingus would even be legitimately offended at Jace's "Stolen Valor" anyway? He's practically a grown kid playing secret agent and doesn't even keep consistency in his roleplay what branch of the military he belongs to.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Stolen Valor only apply if you've tried to use your fake military background to get money or secure employment?
Yeah, though apparently someone (possibly Reuben) claimed that Jace was violating that because of something with Patreon. I haven't looked into the legalities myself, but I strongly suspect that even if it were illegal, prosecutorial discretion would play a strong factor here (i.e., they wouldn't prosecute because it doesn't matter).

This wasn't always the case, but since they amended the law yeah it only matters if you try to get money for it.

As Jace himself pointed out, the SVA was found unconstitutional in its previous form. United States v. Alvarez is the case. In 2013, Obama signed an amended version that only criminalized actual fraud.

Basically, as worthless as lying speech is, it's still protected unless it falls into some category, like defamation or fraud, that is itself unlawful. Otherwise, in theory, you could arrest some drunk boasting about imaginary war exploits.

Or, for that matter, Jace.

And that would be silly.

I'm glad they didn't flip out about him, jace isn't like those guys who would walk around in full combat fatigues trying to get respect, going after jace for this would be like freaking out at a little kid while he plays war, screaming "you aren't a real marine!!" also what the fuck is this guy talking about getting and FOIA on jace, isn't that for people that you know... Actually have some information to hide?

At least this guy apparently also wants to go a little further and go for the enitrety of Deagle Nation.
