I think that car is modelled after East Germany's Trabant 601... whether or not that was intentional, they do look extremely similar...

No doubt it was easy for the guys to find a suitable pic of one to use for this. The early 90's saw a lot of jokes about the remnants of Eastern Europe being sold for scraps or practically given away. I still miss my chance when Barq's did this once...
