The Official Simpsons Griefing Thread

Haven't watched Simpsons in a while. The last time I did was managing to watch a full season of Season 29. Wonder if I should give a try and watch this season and sperg about how bad it is.

So probably something of a gold nugget out of a manure farm, I recently watched A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again. It's a strangely cathartic episode, feeling like some feverish mix of Season 3, Season 4, Season 5, Season 9, and post Season 10. While it is not anything like what could be a "true final episode", I would have to say that it feels like a sort of "character arc ending" for Bart, and it's definitely more better than the shitheap known as Holidays of Future Passed.

Some nice highlights about the episode:
+This actually makes due with not just past themes, but what the late 2000s seasons presents and actually does something effective with it. It lightly touches on Lisa's childhood social isolation, Marge and Homer's marital tensions, and wraps it in nicely with Bart's angst of growing up and dealing with life. It's like a Bart's interpretation of Summer of 6 Ft. Whatever.
+The episode is rather straightforward and at the same time uses a more subtle lead into the main story, something like earlier seasons did right. Moreover, this episode uses something relatable as its story.
+The gags actually are funny in this episode.
+No one from Springfield other than the Simpsons are seen on this cruise; as such, it's a refreshing thing to witness. It also makes this more of a family centered episode due to its story.
+Story goes: Bart is getting tired of the same old routine, so he begs his parents to go on a cruise ship vacation. The cruise turns out to be absolute paradise for everyone, but Bart wants the fun to never end. Therefore, he hacks the ship to make it seem like a global pandemic has ravaged civilization to ensure that the cruise goes on forever. As you can see, this lines up with something that you could see Classic Bart can do.
+Everything on the ship going pear shaped and all Mad Max on a boat is pretty funny.
+The episode ends on a good note. As Bart reveals he was the one responsible, the Simpsons are kicked off the cruise in Antarctica. As they walk to the nearest research station on a good day, Bart reveals why he did it in the first place, to make the family happy. As they go near a penguin colony, Bart demeans them as he believes their lives are but work filled and tiring as they raise a child, but Lisa and Homer instead teaches him to play hard as they slide on down the slopes like a penguin near them. In old age, a gallery of photos from Bart's life is shown, him having fun, even into parenthood. On his deathbed, Bart grabs the cruise photo and closes his eyes happily.
+Because I am a Bart/Laura shipping faggot.It could be anyone you want, but we see that Bart has a son in a picture in the ending. Never shows the mother. Smart move, writers.

One of the few 2010s episodes I'd recommend. It's not perfect, but I'd give it an A- to a B+.
