The Ten Commandments are in Exodus 20. They're right there. You can read them. It does not take any rabbinic jiu-jitsu to recognize Exodus 20:2-17 are a distinct collection of commandments.

The rabbinical tradition you're referring to postdates Christianity by decades at the very least. Rabbinical Judaism didn't really kick off until after the destruction of the 2nd temple in 70 AD. Early Christians (and Orthodox Christians today) directly continued the temple traditions in their fulfilled form (that's what the liturgy is). They didn't need to build a whole new legalistic body of fanfiction (called midrash) like the Rabbinical post-second-temple Jews did.

Christians didn't have a closed canon of scriptures for centuries. The reason why they accepted the scriptures which they did is because they already accorded with what they, as a corporate body, had already believed and practiced through their liturgical tradition. The Church produced the scriptures, not the other way around.

It is hilarious that you, as someone who apparently considers himself an enemy of Rabbinical Jews as a group, would run to them as an authority on the Old Testament religion which predates them and to which they have no direct traditional connection through any temple. It's even stranger that you'd run to higher academic biblical criticism, which you no doubt consider to also be compromised.

"The Church produced the scriptures" is heresy in the Catholic Church. The Catholic doctrine is that the Church received the Scriptures from Christ and the apostles, preserving them inviolate through the ages, and the Orthodox teaching isn't much different. The various Protestant church bodies prior to the rise of liberalism all taught something similar as well.

In context, I'm saying the same thing. The Apostles are in the Church and the Church is the body of Christ. The point is that early Christians didn't think of scripture the same way that Jews, Muslims, and Protestants do where Scripture is epistemically prior to the tradition. Obviously I'm not saying that random bishops made up the scriptures or edited them somehow.

Lofton has Mathoma's MO but with a fake bookshelf set and higher production values. He also promotes the "just be byzcath" coping mechanism that many RCs do, when the Uniates are probably the most on-it's-face contradictory part of the whole RC system. This is getting disconnected from Nick, though.

I don't actually know who Mathoma is, I just like watching R&T because I enjoy the different perspectives on theological stuff. And, it always seems that the debates he hosts are some of the more balanced/fair discussions I have seen.

I might be able to dig up things about him, but I don't think it's worth it. If you want to make a thread on him it should be on the whole E-Cath sphere that is associated with him and/or the radtrads in general.
