You know, the thing that gets me is that there's a certain level of heartbreak. You grow up identifying with these characters you watched, and to some extent caring about not only them but the person behind them. It's normal in children, and even in adults.

And then you find out that this person for whom you held out admiration and affection would utterly hate you if they ever met you. They sneer, they froth, they deplore your beliefs and the things you hold dear, and openly wish people like you dead.

You can go back and watch those things again, but it's never the same; some of the magic is gone. Yeah, you can admire the performance on a technical level, but that heart just isn't there anymore.

It's called "ruined childhood". Thanks, Tara. I hope my children never find out what you said about their parents.
She's hoping said children are just as horrified by their parents as she is. Or hoping the stuff they watch on TV or learn in school indoctrinates them into her way of thinking.

There's a reason there's a ton of Hollywood actors who absolutely keep their right-of-center beliefs a closely guarded secret. Unless you're James Woods, or Based Captain Kirk, who have already made Fuck You Money, it'd be a rough time of blacklisting if it ever got out.

REEEEEEEEing on Twitter isn't "fighting," dear.

Just an addendum, I only recognize about half these characters. And of the ones I do recognize, a lot of THEM are ancillary. Hard to say that my childhood would be much different without her.
Yeah I mean, voice actors are supposed to have that one voice that totally makes their career. David Hayter has Snake, Mark Hammil has Joker, etc. I gave Tommy Pickles as an example because its a legit unique voice you wouldn't think is coming out of an older woman. I don't watch MLP and I know thats a newer thing anyway. Bubbles I guess would be the most important role but that's just a dime a dozen cutesy voice that any Nyanners-esque girl on Youtube could do.

No experience required, yes, but not no qualifications, even if they are trivially easy to meet.

The major reason I got interested in voice acting, considered it as a potential career and even did some amateur work in the field is because I had a massive crush Tara. Although that crush later faded, the fact remains that's the reason I got interested in it in the first place :oops::oops:

It was sort of on my radar that she was anti-Trump, but I had no idea it was this bad. I don't have a problem with someone being anti-Trump - I don't like him much myself. I do have a problem with people who chimp out about it 24/7 and say anyone who expresses even a mildly positive opinion on Trump (even if it's just saying Hillary was worse) is a demon incarnate.

I find all this kind of funny considering her Chowder co-star Dwight Schultz is a staunch and outspoken Republican. I know Chowder isn't on the air anymore, but Dwight still gets around the voice-acting circuit so I can't help but wonder if it makes things awkward.

I don't remember Schultz being very outspoken until fairly recently, but then again, by then he had Fuck You money, just like Woods and Shatner (via The A-Team and Star Trek: The Next Generation)

That's the problem I find with most people I know that don't support Trump. It's like no-ones even allowed to be "meh". You say "meh" to a lot of people and suddenly you = die-hard pepe posting MAGA hat wearing Trump supporter to the end.

He's occasionally subbed in for a couple of talk-radio shows, including Laura Ingraham and Savage Nation, I believe. He's also had Howling Mad Radio himself.

I hate her Harley Quinn voice. I hate anyone who likes her Harley Quinn voice.

Scared you'll be put out of a job?

Funny, I'm fairly sure that Tara threw a huge temper tantrum when she was replaced in the (really shitty) PPG reboot and tried to get the 12-year-old girl who ~took her place~ BULLIED OUT OF HER ROLE, by telling her dumb fans to tweet about how much they wanted her back as Bubbles.

I love that this tweet implies how butthurt she is over not ~being Bubbles~ any longer.

That explains why their fans are so forgiving, but why to the actors/authors themselves get so easily riled up? Is it because in a weird way, being connected to your childhood, they feel they have the ability or even obligation to tell you how to behave? As if they're a surrogate parent? And by voting for Drumpf/not being progressive enough, you are disappointing a "parental figure" in their eyes?

I think its a bit of damn if you do, damn if you dont. I think celebrities think people need to know their opinions on everything, because if they dont take a stance on particular controversial topics like lgbtq rights or healthcare bills, then their fans are going to think that they dont support or are aganist those topics.

Plus, right now its apparently cool to hate Trump, so you have celebrities who take it to the next level by reeeing about him 24/7. I mean look at Chris Evans, the dude plays Captain America the most patriotic superhero there is, and yet a majority of his recent tweets are him reeeing at Trump.

I too had an aspiration to be a voice actor. At the time, I considered her, Peter Cullen and Steve Blum to be inspirations for my aspiration. When it became apparent that when voice actors like Tara Strong had let their ego influence them, I ditched that dream because I didn't want to fall into the same trap. I still want to do voice work but more as a hobby.

I agree. I don't have an issue with anyone's political beliefs. I remember hanging out with Jon St. John(Duke Nukem, anti-trump) and having a few drinks with the guy. We shot the breeze about various subjects like politics. We both agreed that we respect the fact that we had opposing beliefs and there was nothing wrong with that. He really is a down-to-earth person.

With people like Tara, she believes that her fame allows her to influence her fanbase to her beliefs and that she can send her "army" after anyone she disagrees with. She also falls prey to the 'social media curse' where she believes she can say things on any platform like twitter and not expect any recourse or backlash. But then again, I really think she doesn't care. I would've had a lot more respect towards her if she didn't chimp out the way she does.

One of the reasons I respect Dwight Schultz is that he is chill about the fact that people will disagree with him in a political standpoint.

I'm actually friends with Jon on Facebook. We've shot the shit before, and he's a pretty cool guy in general. He gets a bit echo chamber-y about his politics sometimes, and will occasionally post about how "if you support Trump just delete me now so I can make room for someone who isn't a bigot." However, you're right that he's different about it. I voted for Trump (not out of genuine support, mostly because I didn't want Clinton), but I don't usually talk about that kind of stuff so we're cool and I've managed to remain on his list throughout his occasional purges.
