Let's start with discussing this: What character do you choose when you play Mario Kart with friends? Ever since Double Dash I've chosen Peach.

That's how I felt about Daisy until she got into Smash. Daisy looks cute for once in Smash Ultimate.

Bad writing, I'm sure.
The problem with that movie is that the production company who got the rights to it also had full creative control and not Nintendo.

That movie was one of the first time I remember being let down by a Hollywood production.

In Mario Kart, I tend to bounce between various characters, but Mario and Luigi are the two that I tend to use.

That's just it: they weren't going for quality. They just wanted a payday. It could have been a good movie if Nintendo had retained creative control over the project, and I think they've learned from the experience.

That's part of why they tend to quash any fan made stuff.

Studios hope that people will go see video game movie adaptions because of name recognition so they usually hire people who haven't played the games and tend to make bad movies already because easy money. Yet again even when they do hire people to make movies based on video games who are fans of the games, the movies turn out to be utter shit (Warcraft and Resident Evil comes to mind here). Maybe video games are just hard to translate into movies...

Mortal Kombat was entertaining but was still shit. The closest video game movie I've seen that was almost decent was Rampage because all it needed to be was a dumb monster movie and that's all it was without trying to be anything it's not.
