Star Fox General Thread - One of Nintendo’s neglected franchises.

Btw, I got to do a little demo run of two games. Two Foxlikes.

Wild Blue Skies and FUR Squadron Phoenix.

Wild Blue Skies presentation wise looks great but the fact you can’t remap controls or even feel sluggish with the ships right out of the box concerns me.

FUR Squadron Phoenix has the opposite problem where the controls and gameplay feels solid but presentation definitely needs more work.

Either way, these two does show me how different people approach the Star Fox .

Been playing on expert mode, I don't think I ever completed a whole run at that difficulty on 64 just because I was so annoyed by constantly losing my lasers. I can deal with that now for the part since I mainly rack up kills with the charged shot anyway. But Venom I is absolute hell in expert mode. Not since I was a kid did I ever have to worry about my lives, but I was down to my last one by the time I reached the checkpoint just because of all the enemy spam in the first half of the level. And I actually was abusing the reset function to keep my lives. So I died about ten times just from shit I didn't have time to even pause the game for to pull up the menu

Weirdly enough Area 6 barely plays any different in expert mode, I got to the end of that level in just one try. It's funny how much easier the supposed hard path is in this difficulty mode

Missed opportunity to expand the story and missions. Imagine if they created completely new levels per planet with the story being Star Fox is hired to take out Andross' stragglers, the ones that survived and want to continue the fight. New enemies and bosses, same planets but different level layouts/locations. Even rehashing the same levels and enemy types with different spawn points and groups would have been cool. Instead they wasted time and resources on that creepy vtuber thing. New content like how they did Super Mario RPG remake would be worth a buy imo.
I've seen more people make shitposts and memes over the vtuber shit than anything else honestly. There's only so much new shit you can give to an old game before there's nothing left to do. Its just another Nintendo novelty which is a tried and true tradition with the Star Fox franchise where Nintendo would do it to test things out.

Don't forget Bill!
He's a good boi.
Like Star Fox 2? Will probably be the easiest to remake compared to doing a new game or adapting Assault.
I wonder if they could take elements from both games? Keep Algy where he could be why he returned again when Andrew was kicked out or something.

Keep the Lynx and the dog lady. They have better deisgns than Krystal imo. I have no issue with Katt's new look. I like her scruffy look.

She looks like she took so many drugs, that she even lost her natural fur coloring. Her personality switched from being feminine to tomboy, because we can't have that today, but her ship is still pink, kek. The women from SFox 2 and Krys will get a similar treatment unless that horrid art-style is dropped, and even then Krys being tomboyish is almost certain.

I liked the Lynx girl from 2. Intresting character.

Some posts I saw with Katt was that someone said that she looks like sniffs crack and sells fent.

If they ever did bring the Lynx back, then I really wish they had just let Katt be because I really don't see anything wrong with a girly girl. I would be fine with line changes where she isn't so flirty, but NOTHING was wrong with her character design at all. Sometimes I wonder if she started out as the Lynx character because they have that same earring, before making her be a new character.

Do you know what I would absolutely love? If Peppy's daughter became a part of the team. I barely remember Star Fox Command, but I think that was her only appearance. I was reading that she did actually want to be a member of Star Fox, but got rejected :/

She's a lecturer now, IIRC. Imagine being rejected from a mercenary group and then scraping by on a teacher's salary. That's gotta be rough, man.

but what has Krystalfags done except wine and complain?
I guess Event Horizon. And I since the dude literally hired the original voice actor of Krystal he probably is a huge Krystalfag.
(Also Krystal is supposed to show up in the third episode of AFIS also voiced by Estelle because all these guys hang around with each other. And apparently sometimes also with some of the Doom Project Brutality devs.)

And speaking about it I don't think anyone here already mentioned that Event Horizon got a new voiced level:

Steel Diver was actually awesome.
Yeah, it was actually one of my favourite games when I was younger, especially since there don't seem to be many good submarine games around. I really wouldn't complain if someone would make a spritual successor or fangame for it.

Krys isn't meant to be part of the SNES games' timeline, but I guess we have to have the blue vixen. I can't believe that A Fox in Space got more work done in a decade than the Sonic Satam Season 3 guys, who still have nothing to show.

Still waiting for checkpoints to be finally implemented.

On the Way to a Smile were short stories that were fan translated. I do know of the two OVAs.

On topic, I got Star Fox. I don't if it's me or the game feels far easier, even with the difficult mode on.

Most hate I've seen from the game were people complaining over the voices or voice lines.
Very common complaint I've seen that I can kinda see is "a lot of the dialogue looks like it was filtered through chatgpt for sensitivity or something"
I like how the one on the left is just like a star fox-ified version of her OG design from before the game she came from was haphazardly reworked into a shitty star fox game. Looks odd in the realism proportions but with animal head thing this Internet cartoon's thing is due tot he rotoscoping but like not bad either.

It's because one's a standard high-effort fan vidya fan Cartoon people expect to come out every few years and the other is a fucking unofficial yet hyped up sequel to a popular officially licensed DiC cartoon the initial writer has long been dead for and as a result is going over constant rewrites and changes for "current sensitivties" or something gay that causes things to just go into dev hell forever these last ten years. Maybe I'm just being a bit schizo here but every time that's happened with a fan project some kinda constant revision shit like that is behind it. Either that or a DMCA.

the Forever Train Conductor
That nigga's dead as hell man even in the stunted dialogue delivery remake that guy is toast.

I mean the Aparoids and Panther also weren't on the SNES and are still supposed to show up in episode 3 anyways, and in the formers case their appearance was already pretty certain since episode 2.

I'm going to make the Steel Diver sequel my random longshot/troll vote that everyone will thank me for later.

See with AFIS, real love, sweat and effort goes in. Did you actually expect circlejerking Sonic fans to do anything? The real hardworking ones do other things with their time.

The Season 3 production with SATAM is comically inept. It’s a miracle something’s even done at all. On par with Boldbird Studios’ Lionbound in terms of project ineptitude.
