“Tiny magic hedgehog destroyed!”Oh speaking of Easter eggs, I'm not the only one who thought the Sonic hologram marker kinda looked like Mephiles, am I? The eyes were conveniently red to make me think that.

Hell, even a lot of the comments are disagreeing with him while also trying to kiss his ass.
More salt than the Pacific Ocean.
I'm only surprised that anyone is willing to give Chipman consideration with anything Sonic-related, given how he's still assmad about the console wars 30 years later.Hell, even a lot of the comments are disagreeing with him while also trying to kiss his ass.
Maybe he had a sliver of Chaos energy left and warped away from the scene? Someone had to activate Project Shadow and I can't see it being anyone else other than Robotnik. It was his cousin who got popped by the government all those years ago after all. Some people are theorizing that's the reason Movie!Robotnik joined the government in the first place, for revenge. .I just saw it, I don't know how anyone who saw the first doesn't think the second one is better. It's not like, high cinema or anything, but it was way more ambitious. The first movie felt like a typical Hollywood adaptation, and Sonic is also there. This was actually a proper movie about Sonic.
I'm curious about one thing.
They said there was no way Robotnik could have survived the fall, but Dr. Stone was shown alive. The person I saw the movie with told me Jim Carrey was taking a break from acting, if not retiring.
Here's what I'm thinking. Dr. Robotnik canonically dies in order to be replaced with the proper Dr. Eggman and his design in the Archie comics. In the middle of the movie, we see Dr. Stone looking at other versions of Eggman, but it's never clearly explained what he was doing. I think in the next movie, the Eggman we have isn't going to be the original Eggman. This also gives Jim Carrey an out if he chooses not to continue the franchise.

Tails' backstory is another STC sort-of-reference too.1: Soyed out to the references, was surprised that there at least 2 (or 3) Fleetway references (Robotnik’s rebirth, “Chaos” Robotnik and emeralds been stored in a cooler).
You don't see too much stuff from Fleetway that isn’t SS, Amy, or Tekno so the references they did do were pretty cool to see.
2: I like how they took a line from Sonic adventures’ line about the Emeralds being able to turn thoughts into power and expanded upon it with Robotnik’s Chaos form and Super Sonic’s chillydog gag.
The whole Owls vs Echidnas thing was a little weird but I do like how it could have been a reference to how Labyrinth Zone (which was turned into a real labyrinth in the movie) has owl looking murals on it.
Probably not the case but still wanted to bring it up.
3. The last thing I have to say is that I liked how they focused more on the sonic characters instead of the original human characters this time around. Really enjoyed the scene with Team Sonic all together even if it gave off "we're trying to be the Avenger" vibes.
I was really hoping to see Metal Sonic show up but the chances of him showing up in the possible sequel are still probable even where the Shadow is a thing now after they were “partners” in Sonic Adventure 2 battle.
My last few things to say is that the credits were great, significantly better than the last movie not only because of the quality of the pixel art being better but also because of there being no random black rappers in it (which kind of loops back to the first paragraph in this part) and that segways to the last thing I have to say.
Knuckles bringing up grapes when asked about ice cream was funny to me but probably not the way that they wanted it to be.
Sorry to be that guy, but Gerald Robotnik was his grandfather, not his cousin.Maybe he had a sliver of Chaos energy left and warped away from the scene? That would tie in nicely with what we know about the third film.
I mean Maria.Sorry to be that guy, but Gerald Robotnik was his grandfather, not his cousin.
Oh, my mistake. Then again, both of them were executed, so I was kinda confused who you were talking about.I mean Maria.
Yeah that's fair lol. Anyway let's get Bryan Cranston as Gerald Robotnik.Oh, my mistake. Then again, both of them were executed, so I was kinda confused who you were talking about.
It's one of those things where it could possibly be, with how he's implied to be from a separate dimension something that has only ever been seen in the Fleetway canon until this point.Tails' backstory is another STC sort-of-reference too.
It seems 3 is probably going to be a loose adaptation of SA2, so there's probably going to be more characters from the adventure games as a result. In the game lore rouge is a glowie agent sent to spy on robotnik/eggman and gather info on his plans but considering the whole "sonic and tails are inter-dimensional aliens" angle where animal people aren't really too normal a sight for most humans it'll probably be a bit hard to explain that shit compared to Shadow who's origin is already being a covered-up government funded science project that was in cryosleep for 50 years. The government in the first movie was one that was confused by the fucking small blue goblin man running around and literally had to call up evil ace ventura to try and contain it for study.Watched it yesterday, Tails was adorable and love Sonic and Tails' bonding moment in Russia. Stone was surprisingly decent and Carrey was killing it as Robotnik.
I hope we get Amy and Rouge with Shadow. It will be interesting if they adapt Maria.
Yeah this really would fit honestly. Even going by the first movie it's clear Robotnik and the guys he works for have some sort of beef with each other, with the only guy he really has in terms of friends is Stone. He also wasn't even trying to take over the world in the first movie, but literally just taking his job of catching the rodent man to ridiculous extremes that caused millions in property damage. I'm fairly certain if shit plays out SA2 adaptation style then his fondness for the pyramids stated in the chase scene of the first movie is going to have a payoff. Especially with the sphinx's head being blown up. Remember what half the decapitation damaged egyptian statues had jammed over them in SA2? That's right, Robotnik's fucking head.Maybe he had a sliver of Chaos energy left and warped away from the scene? Someone had to activate Project Shadow and I can't see it being anyone else other than Robotnik. It was his cousin who got popped by the government all those years ago after all. Correction, since many people seem to confuse it: GUN (Guardian Units of Nations) is like the UN or at least some sort of international entity, notice the plural "Nations". They were the ones involved with the whole Shadow/Ark thing and subsequent coverup. Rouge was sent by the President of the United Federation (basically the US), so she's a different type of glowie, and if my memory serves me right the President was actually suspicious of GUN and looking into them as well, but I don't remember if Rouge was directly involved with that outside of helping Eggman raid a GUN base as part of his/Shadow's plan that she was pretending to go along with.It seems 3 is probably going to be a loose adaptation of SA2, so there's probably going to be more characters from the adventure games as a result. I mean they seem good enough friends from what I saw in the first movie, backing each other up with like the only real moment of actual physical aggression from robotnik being the time he woke up after he got fucking verbally owned at his own game and then knocked out by the cop he assumed was just a local hillbilly. Carrey-ass screaming about how much he loves the way Stone makes coffee, asking Stone to pin himself to the wall sohe can do his aggressive monologue, the small things like that kinda frame good reasons why he wouldn't just make Stone into a robot slave. He's not quite Jack Nicoloson's Joker's level of evil where he was already a seasoned criminal with a wacky sense of humor to the point he'll off his number one guy over some shit going wrong in his plans, at least not yet.Not going to lie, I was half-expecting Eggman to turn Stone into one of his robot aides. Which then begs the question of when are we going to see Eggman enslave animals for his robots?
