It's all about the degree of the facial deformity. Nobody is perfectly symmetrical or perfect developed. Slight deformities don't detract from looks. (ex. diastema, slight nose crookedness, bumps) But things like vertical maxillary excess or deficiency or maxillary reutrsion or mandibular protrusion/retrusion detract from looks to a great level.
