Its actually because his nationalist sister basterdized his works to support German Nationalism.

Nietzsche actually despised Germans despite being one though and held them as the people responsible for some of greatest tragedies in history. It was clearly just him projecting his own self-loathing, but considering the state of modern Germany he might have had a point.

This is the pleb take I was alluding to.
Nietzsche "hated" and loved many things- Germans, french, Jews, the English. His remarks vis-a-vis Germans are likely to be read as criticisms of his own people from a place of critique. Some of his idols- Wagner especially - were German. His worst trait is his contrarianism for the sake of it, but his method of inquiry was taking assumptions and flipping them on their head. In an age of rising German nationalism he was bound to make scathing criticisms, but to say he hated Germans is missing the mark if you ask me. Whether people like it or not, I think N would absolutely have adored Nazism.

The point of ER isn't some sort of spiritual proposal of what is; it's meant to be a way to live your life. I get genuinely confused at people who think he meant it was literal. It's basically a way of saying "live your life in such a way that it would be a pleasure to relive it over and over."
