Outside of filler, the last time the RWBY plot moved forward was roughly 5 years ago. This is some of the worst pacing on the planet and they didn't even wait this long when fucking Monty died.

I actually cringed watching that video. Who are they trying to fool? (We already know the answer, so it's kind of redundant).

You could easily wrap the main plot up in two Volumes or even one Volume and a movie if the movie is the entire finale. It would leave some stuff on the wayside but it can be done easily enough.

If Volume 10 actually happens it needs:
-Tyrian and Mercury dealt with, Tyrian dead and Mercury either dead or turned good too, whichever
-Summer Maiden identity revealed
-Sword of Destruction gained

Those three points are all the Volume really needs to do. And there's more than enough time to do it. Everything else is extra. I don't know how it would come down to the small details but the final Volume or movie would just be finally confronting Salem and Cinder back at Beacon/Vale. Because it's almost guaranteed that's where the final showdown will be. If the writers want to crunch time they can just make some bs excuse that most of the Grimm directly under Salem's control were killed by Ozpin's big magic bomb in Atlas so once Tyrian and Mercury are out of the picture it's really just her and Salem. The biggest problem I have no idea how they'll write around is the Staff of Creation. There will probably be plenty of unanswered questions and lopped off character arcs but if you want to end the main story they can do it by Volume 11.

The biggest problem I have no idea how they'll write around is the Staff of Creation.

I putting my bet on "Oh, it suddenly needs to recharge and won't be usable again until the finale episode!". Though maybe I'm being too optimistic to assume the writers will even consider how OP the staff is.

Do you think in their heart of hearts that they recognize just how badly they have fucked up their dead friends dream project? That the legacy of the man who put these untalented hacks on the map has been permanently tarnished due to their arrogance and stupidity?

Imagine a world where they just went "Fuck our friend died, we can't continue this story" and I can see RWBY being beloved by a whole host of fans for many years as a show that was put to rest just as it was "getting good" but for completely understandable reasons. Rather than today, where only the deranged dregs of a fandom and us here, rightfully, shitting all over the mess it was even bother to remember RWBY was a thing.

Because even Monty didn’t really care for things making sense. And apparently even having the bare minimum be coherent and logical was a struggle because the folks involved weren’t interested in that.

salem tries to use the staff of creation but she doesn't have any blueprints so she either gets nothing or something completely different from her wishes. this makes the staff essentially useless for her.
