You know, I had a creative writing teacher in high school who every now and then liked to go off on tangents (they were awesome though, so no one complained) and his tangents would tie in to character development. Now, he was an older black man, and one day he decided to just ask the black students if they felt they should have reparations for slavery. Almost all of them said yes ( the ones that didn't just plain didn't answer. I don't recall anyone saying no)

So then he started asking what they believe they were owed. Different answers were given. He picked one of the numbers at random, 10 grand.

So then he pointed out all the raised taxes that would come about from the government having to foot a bill of 10 grand for every African-American, and how they would basically be fucking the country, and themselves by proxy, over.

Then he said something that none of them could make a retort for : " Forgetting all that, forgetting the taxes. How much is your ancestry worth to you? $10,000? A one time payment to wash away all the suffering of your people like it didn't happen? And who are you to make that decision on your ancestor's behalf?"

It was fucking brilliant.

But holy shit, why are there so many people with white guilt that they are becoming almost literal cuckolds (and possibly actual cuckolds in some cases)? I don't get it at all. You had nothing to do with slavery or all the inequality that black people as a whole had to face. So why are you acting like a criminal? That's like saying, if it turned out I was a descendant of Jack the Ripper, that I should be put in jail for the hookers he killed.

Given that the site is literally called "reparations.me," I'm assuming that only black people are allowed to ask for anything. Plus, they probably don't give a shit about other minorities.

If you look at the current requests and offers, it seems like most of the requests are for money and free shit while most of the offers are for things like "energy clearing" or "crisis intervention"

1) Your teacher was fucking awesome.

2) It's all about gaining the ultimate upper hand in the battle for moral highground. They want to buy their right to feel smug and gloatingly tell others how bad they are for "still living with their guilt/responsibility".
 
Begging for money on the internet is nothing new, this is just another reason to do so. Instead of some douchenozzle on YouTube begging for money for a new computer, it's some black person begging for free money because their ancestors were slaves.

My ancestors were slaves too (I'm Slovak), so where's my reparations? Oh wait, we have too much pride and self-respect to stoop to that level.
