Rundown of the omegaverse
Notice: This is just a main review. Different verses may disagree with this. It does not mean they are wrong, or this is wrong, it is simply different.
Very basic summary: Males who can get pregnant, and females with penises.
Lets analyze each omega gender:
Alphas
Alphas have large genitals and a ‘knot’ towards the base of their penis. When close to orgasm, this knot inflates to hold in the semen, increasing the likelihood of impregnation.When an alpha is around an omega in heat (We will cover heats later) they produce pheromones, and become aroused, producing a similar effect that a heat has on an omega. This is called rut. Alphas are typically very territorial and like to scent-mark their omegas/betas. Some alphas take multiple omegas which is generally always a strain on all omegas involved because they are also territorial in a different way. This Scent marking can vary in verses as anything from rubbing up against the omega to… urinating on them.
Males: Large genitals, size differs between verses. Usually somewhere in between eight and twelve inches length, four to six inches in diameter. Knot while inflated is usually six to seven inches in diameter.
Females: Slightly smaller genitals, size differs between verses. Usually between seven and ten inches in length, three to five inches in diameter. Knot while inflated five to six inches in diameter. (Cannot conceive.)
Beta
A comparison of Betas to Alphas or Omegas is to say they are your basic human beings. Males are males, no knot, no obscene sizes no pheromones Females are females, no penis, they can conceive (Though not likely) no pheromones. Betas are not affected very much by pheromones, and are considered in society to be the sane ones that get sh*t done. They’re popular with employers because they’re submissive mostly and not territorial and don’t require copulation leave every month.
Omega
Omegas are like a female version of either gender. It is important to remember that the Omegaverse was based off of wolves, so Omegas go into heat. We will cover the details of heats in a later section. Omegas are territorial, but in a different way than Alphas. An omega only gets territorial when it comes to other omegas. THey’re genera;ly fine as long as their alpha doesn’t smell of other omegas.
Males: Small genitals, no knot, can conceive through anus.
Females: Regular female anatomy with a special gland inside the vagina which releases hormones and oils during heat.
ALL
No matter what dynamic/gender a person in the omegaverse is, they will have scent glands on their neck, their sexual organs, and in some verses on their wrists. Alphas are attracted to omegas in heat, and omegas in heat crave an alpha’s knot. This can come out predictably dub-con as you would imagine. Is it consent if the person is driven mad with hormones? That’s really a question for the omega or alpha.
ONTO HEATS!
As promised, I will go into more detail with heats. Heats only occur in omegas, and can generally last anywhere from a few hours to a week depending on the fertility of the omega. The more fertile an omega is, the longer and more intense their heats are. Female omega’s heats typically last longer than male omega’s, as they are typically more fertile, but that’s not a universal thing. An omega’s first heat can occur anywhere from age 10 to age 17, which triggers the start of puberty for an omega. Heats are a large part of the omegaverse and some verses of omegaverse can have them happen as often as once a month and as rare as once a year. for a male omega, this is the only time they are fertile, and for a female omega, this is when they are most fertile.
Sidenote on ruts!
Ruts occur in alphas, and are similar to heats in terms of how it makes the alpha feel. When an alpha comes into contact with the pheromones of an omega in heat, they become aroused and go into rut, which is essentially an unquenchable need to stick their dick in the omega at hand. This can lead to violence, random alphas off the streets trying to break in, and a good many dub-con/non-con sexual acts. All alphas are subject to this, but alphas which are bonded to another omega, or alphas that are closely biologically related to omegas, find the rut to be calmer, and more resistible.
Contraceptives!
In the omegaverse there are two types of contraceptives (sometimes more but they’re rarely used) There is Heat-control, called Supressants, and birth-control (like our typical birth control) Heat-control is used when an omega either wants to identify as a beta/alpha or when they simply don’t want to have heats. They are extremely damaging to the body. They can cause sickness, sometimes cancer, and can in extreme cases they can even cause permanent infertility. Birth-control allows for hearts, but prevents conception. These include the pill, intrauterine contraceptives, and condoms.
Peuberty!
As mentioned before, an omega’s first heat signals the begining of puberty for them, but for betas and alphas, it’s a bit more complicated. Alphas begin their puberty a bit later than omegas typically, but they don’t present (that’s what its called when they have their first heat/rut) until a bit after that, after their knot has formed. A sonogram can usually tell parents of an alpha or omega male their son’s dynamic, by giving an image of their internal sex organs. For a female beta or omega, or for beta males, a sonogram won’t help as much, as it won’t show anything out of the ordinary. It would be fairly obvious if a parent has an alpha girl because she would have a penis. Betas don’t present at all and until age 20, it’s hard to say definitively that they are not alpha or omega without blood tests. some verses (depending on the time setting) have or don’t have blood tests.

To be fair, in Sailor Moon, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus (aka Haruka and Michiru) genuinely are lesbians. They've been gay icons since Sailor Moon debuted in the 90s. And in Revolutionary Girl Utena, basically every character is bisexual (things get, uh, weird later in the series).
In general though, I hate how magical girl fans tend to glom onto the whole "EVERYONE'S A LESBIAN" mindset. Most magical girl shows feature a cast of close female friends and usually lack a (male) love interest for everyone except the main character; as a result, it's very easy for shippers to point to "proof" that characters are gay and in love with each other. Oh, and I swear that most of these people don't think bisexuality exists; the characters are always lesbians even if they've canonically expressed interest in men.
There's not anything wrong with shipping, but it just gets obnoxious when some people insist their ships/headcanons about character sexualities are canon and you're a homophobic bigot if you don't agree with them.
