Don’t most people make their icons by stealing art from artists (often Japanese artists) without credit, then crop and butcher them with tons of filters and overlays? If they’re one of them then they have no room to complain about “icon theft.”
Yep, especially with characters who have little to nothing in the appearances or expression department. A majority of those who do so say something like: "None of the icons are drawn by me unless specified" in their about or rules and leave it at that. There are a few roleplayers and non-roleplayers alike who take issue with it but for the most part they're pretty much ignored.
And nah, cewyll roleplays Elizabeth Comstock from Bioshock: Infinite, so there's plenty sources for her to use.

Background info: 14 year old girl who's url was http:ruthlessblood.tumblr.com (key word: was) wrote a callout of sorts that was actually justified in that the person who was being called out- the 17 year old http://iuriis.tumblr.com aka 'Ollie'- had raped her. Usually even I'm skeptical of such claims, especially on tumblr, but given the age/s of those involved and the ways in which Ollie has reacted... I'm led down a dark alley.
I had to cap a reblog of the callout/PSA ruthlessblood posted since classic Ollie hacked her blog and deleted a bunch of her posts (hence why her blog is now empty) before I had the chance to cap or archive the original.

I had the same thought, but then I listened to his theme song, and I can see why they're insistend upon him being black, since it's sung from a first-person point of view.
That being said, people should stilll be able to draw characters however they want, because it's not like these little tardbaskets can do a fucking thing about it besides make a weak-ass "callout" post that won't actually do shit to the person.

Tumblr has always hated Laci Green too. They used to be OK with her, just pretty uncomfortable because she discusses vaginas sometimes, but it's gone full on "She's a NAZI enabler" after making that "Redpill" video. Also, her just being openly curious about how radical femninists view things, she's a transmisogynist now too.
So, the Overwatch art book just got released, and there was actually a venerable amount of concept art that vastly differed from the final product; most notably Mercy being a black beefcake, skintight suit and all. The implied romance with Genji was still gonna be a thing and everything.
