I don't know why Tumblr thinks that My Immortal would be good if it was written by a guy. It would be shit regardless. It's almost like, people have writing skills that they develop overtime and that trying to find this grand conspiracy to hate women from a shitty fanfic is ridiculous. People don't hate My Immortal because it's written by a woman, people hate it because it's shit.

do most men think Ready Player One is a good book? my observation is that people who like it are neckbeards who never shut up about how stuff was better when they were kids--guys everyone can't stand to begin with.

From what I recall, even Tumblr doesn't like the book and I don't blame people for that. The book has an infamous amount of horribly written dialogue and and from what I've read it's considered a weak film for Stephen Spielberg standards. It definitely has very cringey moments. But of course it's not because the book was poor, it's because people hate women, I guess.

If Ready Player One was written with a female lead and with a fixation on female-oriented media of the 80s and 90s, it would still suck.
