Brah, I haven't watched a Dean video in like a year or so. Mainly because I don't care.

I know he was upset because he and others tried to gay op the Spectre thread down, and that didn't work. Myself, @AltisticRight, and others, have discussed this in the past at some length

I've consistently taken the high road in hoping that he can still prevail against Preston in this case somehow, in spite of such fuckery. It seems like the right thing to do given the totality of circumstances.

Defendant also moves to dismiss the complaint because no triable facts remain. The Court construes this as a motion for summary judgment. The deadline for dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment, was May 8, 2023. Defendant’s Motion was filed out of time on July 17, 2023.

Dude, that's almost the same thing he said as last time! That Dean's untimely motion for dismissal (on jurisdictional grounds) will likely be granted because he's pro se. Remember, the one Spectre admitted to writing back in 2021?

I'm almost afraid to ask this next question: Is it possible he wrote the motion that was also denied two days ago too?

I don't know to what extent he's still involved exactly, or if he's still writing filings. Though @Triggerni66er posted in Spectre's thread about how he did a three hour video last month shamelessly pretended to be Rekieta (or rather, "old Rekieta") with regards to this case. I didn't watch it, because who wants to watch three hours of Spectre pretending to be a lawyer? That's would be like watching Helen Keller giving a course in photography and music.

I'm just getting a weird sense of deja vu here based on what INAR posted above.

Back in 2021 he wrote at least one of Dean's motions and told everybody it would totally get the case dismissed. It didn't.

Then, last month, he opined that another one of Dean's motions would be granted, but it was denied on the 15th of this month.

In both cases, he even said the judge would grant leniency and grant motions because Dean is pro se. It does make one think that maybe he has a "tell."

Whatever the case, a truck driver is clearly not a good lawyer.

It looks like Dean is trying to make the lawsuit go away by ignoring it. That's not how the law works, if it were I'd be paying no taxes.

This is very embarrassing for everyone involved. I was going to say that it's a wonder how these people function in society but from a cursory skimming of this thread - they don't.

Dean was/is a terminally online drug addict who posted about his brother and his brothers friends on the Kiwifarms and Vicki leeches off of a charity, is a senior citizen and the judge is asking her "how do you feed yourself?".

I blame Nick Rekieta.

Technically double posting, but the thread moves slow, so it should be forgiven.

The bench trial, scheduled for today, was apparently cut short due to the parties reaching a settlement. Though 4 hours were anticipated, the elapsed time in court was 42 minutes.

No further details at this time. No documents available on PACER at this time, other than the two minute I've entries capped below.

Plenty of settlements are like that. Meyer v. Waid basically ended the same way.

Yeah, no kidding. Particularly since Dean didn't retain counsel until the eleventh hour, and Rekieta has been paying an obscenely expensive one for months now who has represented him every step of the way (except for the very beginning). Rekieta's case is already a gigantic money pit for him, even if he eeks out a win.

Anyways. I'm glad this is over (maybe). This was one of the dumbest cases ever to grace L&L LLP.

But, I mean, honestly, does this outcome pass any sort of rational cost/benefit analysis to you? He must have spent a fortune on this bullshit. And he's still got EVS to contend with.
 
Preston spent tens of thousands of dollars, just on his 1st set of lawyers that then sued him, spent even more money after that and all he got was a hastily hand written non apology? Props to Ethan's lawyer, again, for getting this dismissed inside of two months.

@I'm not a Robot is correct. Preston's mom is essentially funding all this. Normal people who understand the value of money don't file B.S. lawsuits like this.
