You know, I think "meaty" isn't typically used in erotic writing for a reason.
This description just makes me laugh, the beginning sounds like a frustrated exclamation. "For the love of girls buttholes, get down from there!"

It seems that Pillowfort has suddenly grown in popularity (Archive), a lot of artists are jumping on the bandwagon to it. I suggest keeping an eye on it because that thing is going to get crowded soon. Here are a few screenshots of the latest posts about it:

I tried checking out the people linking their Pillowforts in the link you provided and a LOT of them were porn. I don't know their rules so if porn is allowed, prepare for a brand new pasture of lol/horror/artcows.
There's an icon on every Pillowfort account that lets you report stuff to a mod, something Tumblr didn't have and never even hinted at ever adding. Tumblr's biggest flaw was the ability to report pornbots and legit illegal behavior (shoplifting fandom anyone?). If you had issue with someone, you harassed the shit out of them until they leave on their own. Because Tumblr ignored those problems, not only did it give us the SJW snowflake mentality but it lead to CP slipping through the cracks onto their Apple app page.
Depending on how this goes, Pillowfort could be better than Tumblr in that regard alone. Less bots, less romanticizing criminal activity, and of course more porn.

So. It's actually a thing now, eh?
I admit it does look like a poorly-thought out clone of Tumblr/Twitter combined but I will be somewhat (somewhat) lenient in the fact that this site seems to know it's limits. It's not trying to be anything too fancy and it's not promising anything too grand either. As a result, it doesn't offer much to normies or artists in general, but it seems pretty bland overall. At worst it will be a small internet community with its own fandom/issues. But I can't say it WILL be a suitable because the site is just so generic I can't be bothered to care.
I think the main issue with this site is the same with DeviantArt Eclispe. Trying to statisfy everyone, but appealing to now one and in return, losing a good chunk of your audience. The reason why sites like Twitter, Instagram, etc are the best places for artists even despite their flaws is due to accessibility. Anyone can use those sites allowing for potential investors, business prospects, or people looking to see/support your work. Normies are much more willing to like standard art than actual artists because they don't understand the intricacies of the art itself. It's a cool art piece, they like, share, rt and move on.
When appealing to such a niche audience such as artists, some compromise has to be made either on your part or the artist's parts. Most social media sites aren't generating revenue from artists alone. It's from celebs, musicians, people who are extremely famous that others also want to follow. In a way, social media is made for the most interaction possible but also sacrifices focusing on one community. This is because when appealing to a wide audience you need to just focus on as much accessibility and customization as possible. Twitter, for example, doesn't tell you WHAT to tweet, they leave that up to you. The algorithm is one of the defining factors of whether or not you're seen but even that has its issues and no one is required to view your work either.
I can get this being frustrating for some people. Especially those starting out, but the main way to solve this is to adapt and have varied options. Have multiple accounts but make a main one as your focus to grow on there. Many people seem to want to get famous on one account only and with Tumblr's insular environment it's easy to see where this came from. It's not a healthy mindset in the very least but Pillow Fort seems to have that issue to a degree a well. It was unavoidable at that point.
Pillow fort does have a general purpose but it also has a lot more to go through before being considered complete. While paying for a Beta is a bit much, I also go in this knowing that they most likely are never going to be a suitable replacement. Already falling into the traps of its successors, pillow fort is doomed to have that fate unless something changes.
I have a feeling that even the developers of the site know they can't do too much or promise much beyond that. As mentioned before, even other sites have to give all voices and equal platform to generate the most revenue. Something has got to give. And while allowing NSFW is a start, it's still has a long way to go being a good Tumblr alt. If there's anything they should do, it's to just drop all pretenses because we know that won't be the case.

Pillowfort would have been dead in the water, then the Tumblr porn ban and exodus happened. There's genuinely some nostalgia among that circle for a Tumblr clone just like "the good old days".
That's why I feel Pillowfort will have some audience for sure.

Yep. And to add to that pile, Deviantart shat the bed with an ugly and convoluted new layout which made people leave in drones. The masses are looking for a new website to stick around on so Pillowfort floats on for a little longer now because of the incompetency of other websites.
