True, but that's not really the sort of pedo hunters that OPs seething over. The ones like Ruben and Schlep that OP's mentioned were just raising issue over the fact that a platform targeted at children was overrun with obvious pedophiles that the moderators were doing absolutely nothing to stop.
The behaviour you're talking about is more the territory of the "balding middle-aged bloatlord who's on so many steroids that he's got the complexion of a tomato"-type, and they usually go after the diaper-shitting retards in particular because those guys are especially easy to make content from. It's also why they never go after one of those Pakistani or gypsy pedo gangs, because they'd end up in the boot of Ahmed's merc without their head if they tried.

on the one hand, I kinda agree. the whole social media dopamine chasing thing has merged with the pedo hunting thing and it's got some people acting in shady ways. on the other hand, online child sex abuse is a HUGE problem and traditional law enforcement is simply ineffective at this time, so you get the heroes you get, and they're not going to be perfect - if clout chasing catches pedos, so be it. and on the other other hand, accusing pedo hunters of clout chasing and being corrupt themselves is one of the primary tactics of actual online child predators trying to smear the only people who are willing to go after them. so you're not gonna make any friends in this thread, buddy.
 
After watching parole hearing videos where sex offenders like pedophiles that have bad jackets get light sentences, I am all for the exploitation of them getting embarrassed and arrested for a national audience for additional punishment.
 
Hansen's early stuff still holds up. I miss Pop Squad. It was nice seeing them get better at it as time went on.
 
When done well, it's alright. But when done poorly, it does way more harm than good. And when you mention that it is often done poorly (nowadays at least, with the bullshit only done for views/money), you get 50 niggers in your replies calling you a pedophile.
Yes, pedos should be arrested when they are found doing something illegal, and making a show of that is good and can be entertaining. But the shit where they just catfish a pedo to a parking lot or something and then beat them over the head with a metal pipe on video gets nothing done and could even hinder a real investigation.

There is a process for investigating, arresting, and charging pedophiles. The process is often boring, so retards on Instagram will forego that process to make an entertaining video. People like Chris Hansen worked within that process to make good TV.

If you would say some of them are just using it as an excuse to say an acceptable target for their own personal sadism, I'd agree with you. But there are some people who do legitimately good work. And then those people who legitimately just psychopaths. Attacking an acceptable target that no one's going to defend, who are probably on some level sexually gratified by violence.

Just as I don't care how the sausage is made, I also don't care how or why a pedophile ends up in an unmarked grave in the desert, just that he is dead in it. God knows the government isn't gonna bother doing it.

If some psycho gets his kicks off torturing pedos to death, bless him for channeling his destructive urges towards something constructive.
 
Chris Hansen and NBC did the same thing 20 years ago and even today is entertaining to watch.

I don't mind if they monetize it or do it for clout or financial gain.

The problem is when they are payed actors or they don't involve real police (like the new Chris Hansen shit, which is fucking awful, boring and cringe).
