Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

what is making these people see positive news, then proceeds to sperg out like "AAAARRRGGGHHHH I MUST BE ANGRY AT A GAME I NEVER CARED ABOUT, UNTIL I SAW IT ON TWITTER!!!" like dude how miserable do you have to be to genuinely care about something you have no interest in at all, like it's all on them to continue to pay 70$s for rushed pokemon games and low-quality moba games with terrible launches, is there a phenomenon for this?
If you find out, let me know. (The TADC community is horrid in part due to this.)

Also, this is standard fucking procedure for early access games. You'd be a dumbass for trying to roll a 2018-era Factorio factory in the newest build of the base game (even without Space Age enabled, your shit's still gonna break). Why would it be any different here?
Agreed. And why would you want to skip the new content just to get to the end credits faster?

I think some people are just made about grinding
This. The complaints I've seen are things like "I put in 150 hours to get a perfect [pal]".

According to one random guy on a random discord, one of the new pals Clovee is a reference to Pokemon Clover. a 4chan themed Romhack.

This inquiry tickled my sense of humor for some reason, so I asked Grok. It first suggested "hype aversion," leaning hard on the "positive news" aspect of the phenomenon, and followed up with a reference to TV Tropes' term for it: "It's Popular, Now it Sucks," but finally it gave a more interesting answer that I think fits better:

Grok powiedział(a):
Psychological reactance: A broader psychological explanation. When people feel their freedom of choice is being threatened or constrained (e.g., by social pressure or omnipresent hype), they push back by rejecting or opposing it. This fits the "I must be angry at this thing I never heard of" dynamic.

I guess there's a bit of meat on that bone since there's only so many developers, so many game products in development, and only so many things a person can "focus" on, so maybe if they feel like something's being astroturfed maybe it rubs them wrong. Though I don't think Palworld is being astroturfed; it's a genuinely fun and surprisingly "full" game.

It also threw in "this isn't always pure contrarianism (which is more general opposition for its own sake) or reverse snobbery (dismissing popular things to seem superior)" and finally concluded "In short, it's a mix of defensiveness against perceived bandwagon pressure and a desire to maintain personal taste autonomy. Many people recognize this in themselves with big pop culture hits."

Not the best analysis I've ever seen, but not the worst either. I think it's onto something blending different concepts into this "newer" phenomenon. There's definitely a sense of "lots of people love it so it must suck" contrarianism to it but the sheer investment of so much time seething with rage about something that doesn't affect them adds something "special" to it.

There's gotta be something to it though, since Hollywood especially is relying more and more lately on this vague concept (they haven't figured out a name for it yet either, which is frustrating them to no end, making it funny to watch) to try to blame audiences for their endless flops. The difference there is people aren't actually doing this to Hollywood's output; Hollywood's actively pissing off their fans and insulting their customers and playing "surprised Pikachu face" when it goes wrong every time, and it's really fucking funny. But they're definitely aware of the concept, because they're trying to blame it for their failures.

After a good 6 hour session, I'd say it's nice to see Palworld come a long way after two-and-a-half years. I put in 100 hours back on release day, and I'm prolly gonna put 100 hours more in the next few weeks. Palworld was really good by survival crafting standards so I'm excited to get into all the changes and improvements made as I get further into this game.

I'm kinda surprised how little of the early game jank has been unchanged. There's a few new quests now and XP gains have been improved across the board, but ultimately very little of the grind has been cut or streamlined. The pal base is still such a time sink when there's so much exploration and dungeoneering to do, it kinda starts to feel like I'm wasting my time. I really wish I could see all the new Islands they added but the pal base needs so much of my attention, just so I can upgrade my starting gear.

Regardless, I'm having a fun time with Palworld, just like I did back then.

Big if true, but I'm not so sure about that. I just caught the thing and unless I see undeniable proof, I'm gonna say it's merely a coincidence of similar concepts.

Well if you want an interesting start to new game, just run random on your custom game. I've got a
i've picked up a level one shaolong which basically breaks the early game, you don't need a saddle to ride most things so you can fly pretty much anywhere to start your base

The updated sanctuaries are actually very nice, also if you do something illegal you don't have to either A. Die or B. Fly up into the middle of the ocean for the PIDF to stop chasing you now. You can just hide and the heat dies down.

Man, rookie mistake for that base, going further downhill until that dilapidated church is a much better location for your first setup since it's a nice flat area

lol that's literally everyone's first base location. Has any player ever built their first base somewhere besides that first little corner?

I built my first base on the weird slanted area 3 levels down from the starting area to the left cause it had sand which I assumed meant it was good. It wasn't.

Man, game runs like ass. I'm so fucking tired of the massive catering to dlss over fsr. It's as if AMD and FSR is just superior in performance:price, yet the industry goes "nah we like nvidia" and ignore it.

They do. I've no doubt NVidia hands out their GPUs like candy to game studios who make those little "nvidia branding" agreements with them to show the green NVidia logo on the startup screens/videos.

AMD hardware can, thankfully, brute-force its way through the bullshit and generally still performs better anyway. Palworld runs great on this integrated Radeon 8060S (Ryzen AI Max+ 395). It's nowhere near top-of-the-line GPU hardware (though it's pretty banger at AI workloads, especially with 128GB of unified RAM) but it holds its own quite well.

continuation on the rest of the redesigned pals (Sorry for the small image) the only one that got screwed was grintale, looks worse than before to be honest everything else looks nice but robinquil looks a bit iffy which would've been better if it kept the feathers on his head fengolope looks perfect but verdash looks like it came out of loomian legacy.

anyways your daily nintendo fanboy screeching about a nothing burger, what's genuinely stopping this guy. average n, or nintengod from being considered lolcows? And who's going to tell them patent lawsuits can't affect character design.

Pokemon fans should be gassed.

Anyways is this game actually good as a survival crafter if I don't want to hyper-fixate grind shit? Like, can a normal human make progress in a reasonable amount of time?

I’m sure Nintendo thinks it was totally worth losing $40 mil in legal fees to get a couple redesigns.

i’m still in the early game, but I’ve noticed a lot of small touches overall that it really improved things. Some of the environments been given extra detail, new little tiny animations for your character or the Pals, the new loading screen stuff, it’s been an overall positive experience playing through 1.0 so far

I'm stuck on Schedule 1 ever since getting it on a steam sale. Not sure when I'll get to Palworld. I'm also on arc 2 of Rune Factory. I'd play palworld, but I'm looking for something more structured.

You can customize a lot of the game's settings to smooth out the grind. XP multipliers, stamina, and spawn rates are a few. I have a lot of the settings for resources cranked to the max myself.
