Nice necro.

I really dont care what conservatives have to say about the bathroom thing because all transgender people want is a place to shit and the data is out there on states that allowed transgender people to use the bathroom of the sex they identify with and theres nothing significant. But the domestic shelter thing I kinda see their point. Like theres men who want to kill these women and they can now be allowed in with a fake name.

Well, since this thread is back, I'll throw in my two cents. In principle, discrimination is bad, prejudice is bad, mmkay? We should always treat people the way we want to be treated, etc... Those concepts have been hammered into our heads since we were old enough to not crap ourselves.
Plus, it sucks to be transgender, and there's no reason to make their lives any worse.

But, there's still a part of me that is deeply uncomfortable with the idea of allowing anyone to go into any bathroom or gender specific place they want. Yes, we're an advanced society that loves and tolerates and all that crap... but some people just have a visceral reaction to the idea that someone who is clearly of the opposite gender can enter such a private place where certain vulnerabilities are exposed.
Phil is not a small person (on the outside), and he does not pass for female at all. In fact he looks like some kind of creeptastic male cultist or biker. Were someone like Phil to wander into a bathroom or dressing room where I was helping one of my young cousins or nieces, I'd probably assume he was a pervert or rapist and spray him with mace.

To be fair the same would go for the mens room too. Just one more reason to avoid the public restrooms other than piss all over the toilet seat. Also its a public bathroom. What part of a public bathroom isnt uncomfortable? (Other than those nice air dryers)

Its always been illegal to perv out in bathrooms. That will never change. It will still be illegal to perv out in bathrooms even if transgender people are let in.

I have no problem with trans using their preferred bathrooms but I do get the shelter issue. I can't blame a woman who has possibly and literally risked her life to leave a man and be uncomfortable with trans men in a safe space for women. I don't think it makes that woman transphobic anymore than someone being a dog hater and fearing dogs after being bitten. You know not all dogs are violent, but now you have a gut reaction when you see one out for a walk. Same concept.

I do think there should be spaces for trans folks to go, but I figured that would be under the umbrella of any LGBTQ oriented shelter. Is that still potentially dangerous? Yes, but any shelter can be. It's not exactly anyone's Plan A.

Another instance of Phil being the prime bad example and making things worse for other people.

For a trans person not to understand this is a sign of a deeper mental illness (persecution complex, narcissism). You have to look at every situation from multiple perspectives, and if you don't, you will do poorly in life.

I feel like this could be his calling in life. The right-wing press could call him whenever they want an opinion that makes lefties look stupid. "Trans rights activists want transwomen allowed into woman-only homeless shelters. We asked transwoman Isabella "Izzy Hell" Rosa Araujo for her opinion."
