My idea for a first real gameplay changing commit is a security reform. I want security officers to all have department assignments and to be integrated into those departments so they have secondary responsibilities. Right now, sec just sucks its own dick until trouble happens. Sec should be primarily focused on protecting its police beat and the best way to do that imo is to make them a part of that department.
 
Now that we are living in the political version of weekend at bernies, I will be taking up the quasi-NEET lifestyle of being a nerd on a nerd game for nerds.

From what I've played, security is barely staffed at the current population. It's a neat idea, but it'd need to weigh the quantity of officers at roundstart before it goes through with it

I feel your pain, man. Picked botanist, ran around 20 minutes trying to find Hydro and he killed me 2 minutes after I found it. Feels bad man.
 
I can't wait to put all my engineer experience to use, that is to say, quadruple checking every single aspect of the SM set up, slowly doing the solars and repairing bits of the station before someone runs up to me telling me a bomb has gone off and they need repairs so I have to pretend that I know what I am doing as I scream down the radio in the hopes that someone who knows what to do will help.

MRP. Don't break the wall, don't use shorthand, adhere to a character enough that there is some separation from the player and character.

What I don't want: "LMFAO CRINGE FAGGOT ELARN TO PLAY" / "Sorry, I don't know how to use this screwdriver because I am but a humble doctor and not an engineer or janitor!"

i.e. don't inhibit yourself from exercising your full understanding of game mechanics, but also don't metagame by sharing information between lives and don't act like a cunt.
 
I've merged in some changes that open up security jobs for each department. They're not any different than old department assignments for security officers, but they may have different uniforms and slightly different badges. I'm going to continue to tweak these jobs until I'm happy with them.
