BAP's defense of Zionism and the state of Israel boil down to the claim the Zionists were conquering their inner bugmen. The shtetl Jew with his physical weakness, his petty sectarianism, his lack of mastery of his own fate was being overcome in Palestine. Zionism is thus a project in the spirit of European colonialism, its a European race conquering land formerly belonging to some benighted brown savages. Israel today is thus a more masculine, more "national socialist" more "imperial" society.
Notwithstanding the Nazis nor the modern far right movement-which were never convinced of this line of reasoning (Hitler and the "school of swindlers") Israel is as much any Western state. Abortion, homosexuality, democracy itself-are all part of Israeli life. So, the notion Israel is some based outpost of Aryan vitalist imperialism seems rather shot to me.
There's a lot about BAP's background that seems fishy. The support he got in writing his thesis, his connection to several Straussian Jewish academics, the fact that Claremont Institute and a lot of other rwers go along with the charade(they very much know who he is).
I've read BAM, I could barely remember 4 passages. Its a rambling book in which BAP complains about how modern society smothers male adventurism and homoerotic bonds. Its not that deep or profound.
