I still somehow managed to put in 60+ hours and was grinding the dailies after work for a while, but after Season 2 launched and it felt like a complete nothingburger, I just gave up on it.

I did actually, but the progression in the game was another big gripe I had with it as well. I was a little pay pig and bought the season one battle pass, but even with about most of the 60 hours being in season one, I wasn't able to fully complete it. I managed to get all the items I thought were worth it, but they made it pretty hard to actually unlock everything, and a good chunk of those items were trash anyway. Also, while I'm complaining, the Halloween event was super easy to unlock everything in and I ended up with too many credits that I couldn't use because I had already unlocked all the items. So their answer to that for the Thanksgiving/Fall event was to make it really fucking hard to unlock all those items. Plus, all the Fall event items fucking sucked.

Something is definitely fucked with input, landing into a manual is near impossible compared to any other game in the series

On that note, the game always felt like they were live patching some of the controls because I noticed them feeling a little different day to day. for manuals you really had to give the right stick a feathers touch and just get used to it.

I really had a lot of hopium for this game

The re-worked tutorial island is accessible for free for the next few weeks and it's decent but not worth the $20 they were charging. The downhill parts remind me of the old games and I like that they added night mode albeit just for the new island. I'm not a fan of the "new" speedline challenges. I feel they were created to superficially pad play time and prolong your progress or maybe I just gotta gitgud

The Skate 1 map was modded into Skate 3. I think they've figured out how to load maps without the need of Native Menu. It'll be more convenient for custom maps going forward since you won't have to reload the game just to load a new map. Someone had already modded the Skate 2 map into Skate 3 but it didn't have fast travel points (which I assume was a Native Menu limitation) unlike this map.

I believe Skate 3 had two small map expansions from DLC that costed $6.99 each. Yeah, the tutorial area is not worth $20.

Skate 3 was recompiled with ReXGlue (github link) and it's hitting 1080p at about 60fps. I'm quite excited for the future of this project.

As for Skate 4, the new season just came out. They brought back fingerflips, added new fingerflip variations, and I noticed they improved transition skating a tad. The stadium in the locked district was opened up to season pass holders and it's got a street/park course and a skatercross course but it's the same price as the tutorial island despite being a lot smaller. I at least was able to buy it with the free v-bucks they used to give out in the previous seasons lol
