Seriously, though, he's probably using Liberal as it was intended and not hijacked by American politics. This likely upset ResetERA as you can't believe in individual rights there unless it's a protected class of people that's trendy to like. Can't speak for progressive, however. I can't really speak for Brazil at all as I never went there and their news never really comes here unfiltered. That said I've seen more Brazilians apathetic than sad or celebratory. They've really resigned to their fate that they shall always be a shadow of their former empire. Sucks.

For those who don't want to read a long tweet-stream, Jon made a number of very unusual (and accurate!) predictions over the past few months including things like decade old games being ported to Switch and 3DS, giving away Mario Tennis Aces' name a day early, etc. But now with a very large and credible Smash leak, the channel he works for, which makes a living off of Nintendo speculation, is practically silent. Almost as if going into it would get all of their early access and preview privileges yanked.

That (de)escalated quickly. Going from "They are killing innocent minorities in the streets!" to "Well, maybe some of them didn't say anything when they heard a potentially offensive joke." in the same post. Maybe he doesn't like the police because he keeps stealing the goal posts.

The media always paints Trump (and now Bolsonaro) as madmen who will literally go out and kill people. But the only one who actually says that stuff is Duterte, who isn't in the spotlight for longer than a minute after actually saying something crazy.
Tho it's probably very easy to misjudge someone else's president, maybe Duterte isn't as great as the media paints him.

On the Bolsonaro controversy: I'm brazilian so I know what I'm talking about. Bolsonaro ran against the current regime that has been in place for 16 years. His opponent was running in place of the former president who is jail for corruption and has been the center figure in a gigantic scandal twice, including one during his own term. A lot of people involved in his government are also in jail. Worker's Party, or PT, led probably the biggest single corruption scheme in recorded history that wasn't done in some shit Africa country. The lead platform on PT's campaign was setting the former president free, like summarily releasing him from jail. Brazil is currently balls deep into the worst recession of its history.
Some of Bolsonaro's views could be taken as extreme by some, but anyone who's talking about this while ignoring what PT did prior to this election is fucking stupid or ill intentioned. He's as much of a fascist as anyone who doesn't call a troon Xe/Xi.
