Sure. Will say that holy shit I remember this game ages ago. When I saw all of the weird collectives and other shit going on, I just ended up leaving. I thought it was a neat little thing, but considering there is Rp involved, I am not surprised people would go to such lengths.

Chiming in with an "oh hey I remember this game" and a fun story, though admittedly mostly anecdotal since it was years ago.

Essentially, there was a nation that didn't interact much on the forums or wider community but was silently in the top leaderboards for basically every category in the game; Kindjal.

Someone in the Security Council, which is capable of "commending" nations (placing a nice shiny badge on their profile and telling them how cool they are) decides that Kindjal should be commended, since, if you've ever played NS, you know how wildly stats can vary and change around based on how you answer issues, and keeping that up for years on end is insane dedication.

The commendation thread is immediately flooded with autistic shitters who are crying that Kindjal is getting a commendation for simply playing the game well, instead of jacking off the right people in the roleplay forums, or writing article-sized posts about made up countries. Kindjal, who has posted on the forum only 35 times since they joined the game in 2010, makes some posts thanking the writer for the commendation, but they are mostly drowned out by the shrieking little kids, with one poster remarking "this will make a nice repeal in a few years."

Eventually, the commendation does pass, but with a 78%/28% for/against ratio, the tightest I've ever seen for a commendation. All because, for once, someone on the Security Council wanted to congratulate someone who actually interfaced with the game part of the nation simulator game and did it well.

This thread made me go back and see if my stupid little nation from highschool is still there and wow, it is. What a blast from the past. Nationstates got me through many a study hall, I even got the tech people to unblock it from the school's internet by saying it was a social studies learning website lol

I mostly just played it to see how badly I could fuck up a country, by answering all the questions either as Hitler or Stalin would answer them, flipping a coin each time to decide which so the country was basically run by a completely inconsistent schizo.

Yeah it's a fun game. The forums has a bit of spergery to it but I think it arises more from hobbyist passion than stupidity. That incident with Kindjal I mentioned is basically the only time the NS community has been particularly lolcow-y.

You'd expect a political simulation game run by an Australian to be the most pozzed shit in the world but it's actually remarkably fair. The moderation team actively goes out of their way to make their unpaid labor even harder for themselves by having an actual process that tries to keep rule enforcement and appeals fair. On the game side of things I've never felt like any particular ideology is given a moral spotlight or something.

This thread inspired me to resurrect my old nation. I had forgotten that since the last time I played I had turned on the "republican" website theme. When I saw my nation type I laughed my ass off:

I once made the Holy Empire of Hard Racism, and all they had problems with were my motto, "White Is Right" and my currency, the Negroidskin. I think we'd be alright with some light fun in our kind f way.

dead thread but i can contribute, there's this user that goes by Liberal Malaysia and his antics are delusional. he's a chink that lives in malaysia (sarawak i believe, he's chinese) and he rivals and even surpasses pajeets in his ass kissing of kikes, he will bat for israel at literally every opportunity. his love for israel is only surpassed by his hate for muzzies, his factbooks (lore of his nation essentially) involves his fantasy of malaysia become a super-secular state where muzzies are forced to convert or be deported. i think this stems from him being chinese (a minority in malaysia), which is why he also has a massive hateboner for the CCP. im phoneposting right now but if i can ill post screenshots of some of his wilder posts

One thing I've noticed is that a lot of the trannies on NS are extremely smug, more so than your average tranny. I think this is because of the raiding/defending side of the game. Quick lecture for the uninitiated: Raiding/defending is the usage of game mechanics to take over regions on the game-side of NS (The other side being the forums) which is done through World Assembly endorsements. Predictably this attracts a lot of lefties who want to "own da choodz" by raiding regions that are tagged with "fascist" or any other of the sort. If you want an example of the average raider, then this tranny is a pretty good example. He seems to have that whole 'forcing dicks on lesbians' fetish too judging by his flag.

There's also this tranny, and he's also a raider. His signature is more milkable than the above tranny's signature, not to mention this post of his where he has a Freudian slip revealing his fetishes. He is noticeably more smug judging by his post history.
