Cartoon Network has been a shitshow for almost a decade now. The only good cartoons from that channel since 2008 are Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, and maaaybe Gumball. Steven Universe is putrid and reprehensible, Clarence and that bears show are mind-numbing background noise at their peak. Teen Titans Go is amusing sometimes (owing that to the butthurt it's generated) but annoying. Everything else is too forgettable to name.

And good lord, the new pilots they've released make the aforementioned cartoons look like Citizen Kane in comparison.

I stopped watching CN around a decade ago. I remember when they aired stuff like the older Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, and even "Toonami" with a fairly diverse animu selection for anyone into that sort of thing.

The cartoons airing on CN today seem too odd, crude, and unappealing. Also lots of Flash animation.

Certainly a lot of it has gone this route in recent years and none of it seems appealing to me the slightest. It's odd if kids are into this without knowing what they're missing but I guess that's just what it is.

You're not wrong - it's garbage that belongs on PBS, at worst. At best, it will barely appeal to the current generation where TTG! has done just fine, honestly.
